Default FPE1.3 21cc

I'm relatively new to different brands of gasoline engines, although I own several.
I've delt mostly with Zenoah, SPE, MVVS/ Evo and Ryobi.
The question I have is that I just purchased an used FPE with EI...and this EI looks different than all the others.
Other EI systems are usually in a metal or tough plastic housing.
FPE uses an ignition module wrapped in somekind of foam, then housed in what looks to be a big piece of shrink wrap.
The part I really can't figure out is the (I guess its) sensor...It's in this cylindrical plastic housing, about as big around as adime and 2x as long.
the thing is zip tied to a single bolt hole and can move freely Is this what it's suppossed to look like ?
I lookled up teh FPE manual and neither the module or sensor are shown on the pics or explained in the instructions except for how to not hook them up.
Can anyone give a guy some advice ?

Call Ridge Machine. Ken Baker is the owner (same guy that makes D&B engines) and he also ownes the company that provides ignitions. The ignition is a Reichmouth (pronounced Ry-mooth). It is fixed timing and very durable and dependable, but it sounds like somebody has been tinkering with yours. Do you have pictures?
Almost forgot--

Thanks!

Actually, it does look almost just like the one from the link you sent.
I'll get some photos, but I have been out of the house for a few days since all the storms we've had, I'm still without power after a few days now.

So I'll get some opics as sooon as I can.

thanks for the link/ advice.

I have two FPE engines with CH ignition. They are the same ignition as is used on other brands.

What you describe sounds strange to me and I wonder if the previous owner didn't come up with some different ignition. My suggestion would be to place a phone call to FPE and talk to them. What you have does not sound like an FPE ignition.

Normally the FPE 1.3 and the basic FPE 2.4 does NOT come with a CH unit.

They sure don't. I have owned both--- both came with Reichmuth ignitions with fixed timing. Not sure about the larger sizes.

I had a 1.3, and the description of the components sound about right.

Mount the components firmly, and you'll be good to go I bet.
