BME Super Tiger 90 Gas Ignition Question
I have one of these and the ignition is just a black box with no name. Does anybody know what battery I am supposed to be using? I currently just have a 4.8V/1100mA of questionable quality with a new 4.8V/2700mA on the way. In screwing around with it the past couple days, it runs great right after you start it but within a minute starts to fade away with the high end being the first sign of it going bad. Let it rest awhile and it does the same thing. I didn't recharge it over nite and the fix-it gnomes didn't show up either so it still does the same thing. Unloaded, the battery only shows 5V so I put it on cycle. Tell me I have a battery issue and not an ignition problem.

Maybe you do and maybe you don't. Since you say that the battery you are using is of questionable quality, cycle it a couple times and recharge and then try it again and see if the high end still drops off.
If my memory serves me right I believe that BME switched to using CH ignitions on the later models of their 90 engine. Since BME is up and running though under new ownership, you could check with them for the possibility of a warranty claim if you do have an ignition problem.

RE: BME Super Tiger 90 Gas Ignition Question
This ignition is just a totally black label with no markings whatsoever-hope it is a Falkon but I don't think it is. Anyway-what a difference a day makes. I cycled the battery and opened up the needles to 2 turns each just to be sure and it lit up and it just howled and there was no stopping it. I did a little happy dance as good as pudgy white guy can and didn't touch a thing. What sucks is we are still at least 3 wks away from being able to get on the field.

I have been running engines for over 35 years I can't tell the rpm of an engine by the sound. You must have one hell of a calibrated ear.
What brand 14X6?

I have a 14-6 on it. Will snag a tach from somebody and post when I get it. It was 10K+ though.

RE: BME Super Tiger 90 Gas Ignition Question
Got a tach and with the 14-6 prop on it, we stopped it at 12K and it was still spooling up with no end in sight. I have ordered a 15-8 and a 16-6 but this thing just screams. Just wish I could find more info on where they want it to run but over 12K just seems too fast.

Are you sure that tach is working okay as those numbers are pretty high for gas as my G90 glow version turns an APC 12x6 at 11,800 rpm.

Pretty sure it is. Idle checked 3K (sounded about right) and the high end is all of 12K. Guess when I have the opportunity to find another and use it I can verify it but it is spinning just as fast as any glow engine I have ever seen and heard.
Have you ever seen a manual on this engine?
