Nice fuzzy pics. Almost hides the fact that none of the parts match up very well. Might just be a prototype work in progress. Nothin I'd park next to the real thing. Might just be the ticket for a scale 102" Troop transport long as the engines cowled in.

Looks like a prototype to me as well can't see the 3MM logo either, as for none matching parts ????? a little early to pick it to pieces, if you own a 3MM you will already know the quality and reliability.
Before anyone asks, no, I don't have any affiliation to 3MM, I just like their engines and I like to give credit where credit is due.

Who knows, so far I heard 100, 106 and 114, and one of these is from the horses mouth and the other two from dealers, it really does not matter the only thing that matters is that one is coming and it will be good.

I'll have one of the new 3mm twins shortly after they make it through a distributor's QA process. Then it will get to go through mine and some flight testing. It's my understanding in back channel conversations that it will be 114cc's, but we'll wait and see.

The Australian distributor already has it listed on his web page (no details yet), I understand that it is about 2 months away from being ready. Cheers

RE: NEW 3MM106cc twin coming
I have received permission to release some information on the new 3mm twin so that at least we have accurate information out there.
They are saying that this new twin is 114cc. They are keeping the same 35mm stroke that was on the 53 but the bore is larger giving the increased displacement and power. They actually made a new cylinder and piston for this engine. Presumably with the new cylinders/pistons they also improved the porting for even better power output. A larger bore is the key elemant that allows larger bypass and boost ports which improve the breathing and therefore the power output.
Weight of the prototype is 5.46 pounds including the ignition and spark plugs. We do not expect this to change. This weight is approximately 3/4 pound lighter than the DA-100/DL-100/DZY-100 engines on the market now. It's about a 1/2 pound advantage over the new lighter DA-100.
The photos above show the very first prototype which is now running. Several changes are required and a new set of prototypes is being built, they think they will be done in July.
If all goes well with those engines and no further changes are required then production units may be available by the end of the summer. However, as always, these schedules are subject to lots of changes, there are no guarantees. I'm thinking that you will be able to buy this engine probably in September/October time frame.
At this time I do not know the price but I'm sure it will be competitive. 3mm has an excellent reputation for quality and reliability. Given the lighter weight and larger displacement than the competition I do expect this engine to become the leader in this category.
They say the early bird gets the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese!

Tom: That is very exciting news. It is a great time in this hobby. I don't currently run the 3MM engine, but I will be in the market for another 100cc engine. How have the current 3MM engines held up after 15-20 gallons of fuel thru them? Also do you think we can count on them to continue improving the quality of their product? I may be buying one of these enignes from you when you get them in.

RE: NEW 3MM106cc twin coming
I have sold well over 150 TOC-53s in the last 18 months. I have never had anyone report a mechanical failure while running. I've seen minor stuff like stripped threads, dirt in the carb, failed ignitions and we've had some trouble in certain planes that was cured by inverting the reed block.
But it's a solid engine, a real workhorse.
As far as improving quality, to what do you refer? The machine work and mechanical design has been excellent. The engines that I get now are better than the ones I got a year ago. The packaging is better, they have made improvements to the muffler, they made changes to the prop hub at my suggestion to eliminate the possibility of bottoming the screws without getting the prop tight. They have been open to making improvements where it is clearly necessary.
The owners are from Taiwan, not mainland China. The Taiwanese have a much better idea of quality control. Many USA made producers send their machine work to Taiwan because they do such a nice job. With these guys you get Taiwan level quality control with the low prices of China manufacturing. They cost a little bit more than the all-China products like the DL line, but I think it's worth it to get the peace of mind.

Great information Tom, the engine will be a real winner and its good to see someone like yourself marketing these things properly.
This should now create some interest in a very good product.
Cheers

Modellers would be happy! There are more choices on the market! Quality is the first issue. The quality for 3MM engine was proved and the price is acceptable! This is a good news! We are waiting for it in Australia!

Any numbers yet on the prop/RPM.
I did get out of them that they are using a 28-10 as a break-in prop.

Once this engine is ready to come to market, it would be nice to see the mounting dimensions the same as 3W and DA.
Makes for a much easier engine replacement

They are not releasing anything yet because the changes that are coming may affect power the power numbers.

Do you have any ballpark estimate on when I could buy one from you? 3 months? 6 months?
