I'm getting 6800 on my RCGF 45 engine using a MAS maple 20x8 prop with less than a gallon of fuel on the engine and using a pitts muffler. This engine flys my GP Giant Super Sportster very well.

Another satisfied 26 customer reporting in. Ultra RC Katana maidened today after only one tankful of gas on the ground. The Kat weighs in at about 10 lbs 80z weight. Getting about 7350 on a Zinger 18x6 that I cut down to 17.25". Dependable idle down to 1500 or so and starts within a few flips. Even at this early stage hovering is posible with a little power left for pullot. Run-time and a better prop should make this agile little plane a 3D beast (at least way more capable than the pilot).

The only mods made to the engine was flipping the carb over for my setup and soldering the hole in the choke plate shut to help the starting prime.

Saturday weather turned out to a surprise. Sunny and low to no wind. Was able to Maiden my Spacewalker with the 50 CC twin. See the video on RC Univ. The motor ran perfect!! In the video you can see the RPM numbers (prop is a 20x10 zinger) Ron

Okay, I'm on a different shift now so I had some time today to play. I ran both of my Aeroworks Edge 540's in the back yard, start running the engines. The 29% plane has the Aerovate 50cc single with a Xoar 22-10 prop. The 25% Edge has the Aerovate 26cc with a Xoar 17x6 prop. The 50cc engine is running through a 3W cannister muffler via a custom header. The 26cc is running through the pitts available through Henry. The 50cc, tuned and on it's second tank of fuel, was turning the Xoar just over 6000 rpm. For comparison, my 3W-50 turns that prop over at about 6400. Not bad at all. The 26cc, on it's first tank of gas, is turning it's Xoar at 8000 rpm! My Saito 1.50, which was in that plane until I, um decided to rebuild it, spun the same prop about 500 rpm faster ( as I recollect, but don't quote me). I used bellcranks to activate the choke, with a little antenna knob on the right side of the fuse to grab onto. I'll check my number is if I can find them. Overall, I'm pretty pleased and look forward to flying. Gotta get the wings re-covered on my Little Edge now.

Still on the subject of the 26 gas. What am I suppose to wrap with the wire wrap that came with the engine?

The large plastic spiral wrap goes on the plug wire and the smaller wrap goes on the sensor lead and any other power wire that might get chafed.

Usually a sign you are a little rich on the top end. If it is popping in the mid range then your low end is a bit rich. Could be related to ignition and spark plugs but more likely it is just a tad rich in the air.

Hey DaddySam,

Glad to finally see someone else running a Xoar 17x6 on their 26. I'm at getting 8140 with mine, but I'm at the 2 gallon mark. I'd say we're real close..... Always nice to see some kind of verification of rpm numbers with the same engine/prop combo.....

that felt clunk that was recommened is just over a quarter inch on the barb and the fuel line i bought is 3/32 inner diameter. the short piece of fuel line i got with a gas tank stopper is just a little bigger than 3/32. im guessing its 1/8inner.

have a hard time getting that short piece on the clunk. i try to put the 3/32inner on the carb inlet on the 62cc and i havent been able to yet. i got week fingers anyways. is it the right size? i bought safety wire pliers and safety wire to keep the fuel line on the barbs. but im wondering if i should go with bigger diameter tubing to make it easy on me. what size is everyone using?

Tower does sell them but I don't know if they have your size or not. You will have to figure that out. You can also wrap a small piece of wire around the tube and solder it, makes a nice cheap barb.

Does anyone know off the top of their head how far the pitts muffler (including bolts) protrudes from the engine? I've ordered the 26cc for the seagull spacewalker and already know the stock pipe will be way outside the cowl. The keleo exhaust might fit in the cowl but, $150 for a 26cc muffler is a bit steep(for me anyway). The Jtec might even be right on the edge of fitting not sure until I get the engine mounted. Thanks in advance.

I would use the Hayes medium neoprene line inside your tank. It fits over the clunk inlet very well. If you use the yellow tygon, you can heat it with a heat gun and slide it over the inlet. I prefer the neoprene. You can also make a barb by buying a brass tube one size larger than the brass tube in your tank, and then cutting it into 1/8" sections with a dremel tool. I then sand off the rough edges and solder the section over the fuel tubing. Works great. If you go the Hayes neoprene route, I suggest cutting a section of brass tube, chamfering the ends so they are smooth, and inserting it into the fuel line between the clunk and the brass tube that goes through the stopper. Make it about two inches long, and center it between the clunk and the stopper. This will prevent the clunk from going all the way forward in the tank. Safety wire is spiffy, but a small zip tie will do as well.
Hope that helps,
Sam

Another way to make a barb is to wrap fine copper wire around the brass tube and solder it in place. Instant barb. No copper wire? A small paper clip can be used as well. Just ends up a little taller on the tube.

thanks guys. ive seen this stuff that says it works for gas, glow, and smoke fluid. it's .125" is that 1/8"?

an alternative to neoprene i guess. a little up in price. i will try using the tygon i have first.

PSP had tygon for $.91/foot. i got 12' feet for $10.92 with shipping it goes up to $18.42 though.

Walbro makes felt filtered clunks, which along with other brands can be had quite easily from any home and garden small engine service/repair shop, as they are standard items in wackers and such.
