RE: RCGF Engines
Capt, I'm looking for a suitable engine for a top flite stinson kit I will be starting soon. Recommended gas engine range is 28-35cc however reviews have stated a bigger engine is warranted if you are adding lots of scale detail or covering with fabric and painting. the 45cc engine was the right price and more than big enough although I'm sure I could easily make due with a32 cc. Plus the 45cc would be a tight fit. That 40cc Twin will be the perfect engine with two 20cc jugs!
I'm VERY curious on pricing and availability. I'd like to put my name at the top of the"waiting" list

RE: RCGF Engines
I was supposed to get one of these 40cc twins from RCGF back Feb-Mar of this year to beta test in one of our scale biplanes but it took them a bit longer to finish the development. Hopefully I will see one here pretty quick as we are on the list for the first ones that come out. I am working on them to do a 30cc twin also. Stay tuned……

I'll beta test for you .
I have a 1/4 scale Sopwith Baby with an Enya VT-240 in it that I've been looking to re-engine due to the Enya's collector's status

Just a follow up to my engine. After I thought I had the reed valve problem fixed, the engine started to quit again. So I contacted Joe (captmicom) and sent him the engine. He can tell you what he found and what he did to the engine. I'm just going to say that I took it up for a couple flights yesterday, and it ran great, I think better than it ever did. Thanks Joe

Had my plane out yesterday. Engine was running great for the first 3-4 minutes, and then at WOT, it started to "miss" a little bit. Backed off on the throttle some, flew for a few more seconds, then back to WOT and ran fine for a few seconds, then started to miss again. Decided to land to see if I could figure anything out. Got her on the bench and really could not find anything wrong (checked battery, wiring, fuel lines, etc.). I tuned the needles just a tad leaner, I think, but not much. It ran really good on the ground. Unfortunately, one of my retracts had a problem, so I could not go up again.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Check your plug gap. Open it up to around .022'' if it is less. But I have a gut feeling it is your ignition battery getting low causing the miss.

Yea, low battery is what I thought too, but it checks out fine. It sounds like ignition problem of some type to me also, but I have had a few carb and air leak issues with this engine. And since the miss was on/off and on again, I'm not really sure. If i figure it out, I'll post an update on here.

Check the spark pulg lead where it goes into the ignition box under the black shrink tubing. I have seen the metal mesh break at this point. This is the ground for the plug. Usually this happens because the wire is bent to hard.

RE: RCGF Engines
To those of you that have emailed us about the new RCGF 40cc twin. They should be here in 30 days and the estimated retail price will be about $450.00. I'm still waiting for the factory to confirm the price.
If you are interested in one please send us an email to [email protected]and we will send you notification when the are here. This gets you ahead of the surgebecause it sometimes takes two weeks to get on our web site.
I will send engines out to the magazines for review as soon as they get here so we can get an unbiased opinion and some performance specs.

GringoPete, tell all I am one happy customer. And thank's for the hat. I needed a new one to wear to the airfield.

RE: RCGF Engines
If it wasn't for the spark plug and lead hanging out the bottom of the cowl, one would think those pictures are of a full scale plane.
Very nice plane and pictures.
Looks like you have a Corsair with the same color scheme. Very nice as well.

RE: RCGF Engines
Ok guys, and gringo especially! I just finished installation of a new RCGF 20cc in a Dynaflite PT-19 yesterday. I tried to start it and it absolutely WILL NOT draw fuel to the carb. I even tried pressurizing the fuel tank by blowing air into the vent line. Fuel goes right up to the carb inlet and doesn't go any further. I primed the engine via the spark plug hole and the engine roared to life for about a second then died down.
Please tell me how I should go about priming the carb. I used an electric starter too and absolutely nothing would get that carb to draw fuel.

RE: RCGF Engines
Do you have the rear or side carb?
If it's the rear carb, try putting a few drops of fuel into the carb thru the carb air inlet. I have to stand my plane on it's nose in order to do this. Once you get fuel into the carb, it should start pumping.
If it's the side carb, just put your thumb over the carb air inlet and turn it over with a starter for a few seconds. You should be able to see the fuel drawn into the carb.
