Help please
guys, tried with the search function but no real luck... got a Yak-54 fitted with a second hand RCGF 62cc, bought 2 years ago. The engine just has a couple of hours since new and has not run since I bought it.
Took the model to the field, tried as I could, the engine doesn't start
Gas gets to the carb, spark plug removed looks slightly wet, spark happens at the correct position, but the engine just stays dead...
What next

You could have a bad module what color is the spark should be a blue spark if the spark is weak the compression is blowing out the spark did you disconnect the fuel and try starting it ??? Also if the reeds are sticking open it is not going to start how much compression does it have ??

Leave plug out and spin the engine with starter ignition off Replace with new plug full choke and ignition on try to start until engine pops open choke and start. If its got fire you should at lease get something to let you know its trying to run. If not pull the new plug and see if its wet also. Be sure the plug cap is all the way down on the plug. A lot of guys have failed to get the cap pushed down all the way .

You can use the plug that came with the engine. I have not had any problems with then myself however I have heard of others not having good luck with them. So if you have concerns with them you can go to your local auto parts store and find one of these aftermarket plugs.

Champion: Y82

Denso: U20M-U
Motorcraft: BT8
NAPA: X581
Prestolite: 09-10-06
This will give you a bunch to choice from. I use the CM6 and the U20M-U a lot.
By the way if you have not messed with the carb needles, don't. Just run the engine with the factory settings for a while.

I did not have the funds to go to Toledo this week end so I will have to wait until they get back to China to get an update, but I would almost be willing to bet that RCGF brought one with them to show at the Toledo show.

I want to thank both of you for your prompt replies.
The list above provides me with plenty of options.
I haven't touched the needles. The motor has not been started. It was purchased for a different, yet unstarted project, but pressed into service on my Ryan because of it's sleek nose, permitting the use of the dummy radial.
I hear good things about this engine, and I'm looking forward to seeing how well it performs.

I was saddened to hear of the recent passing of the founder of BP Hobbies Bob Peru. My sincerest condolences to his immediate family, and hopefully the distribution of the RCGF line will be continued by those now in charge of BP Hobbies.

Hay Buddy,
I have flown the RCGF 20's and its one sweet running engine. It swings a Xore 17x6 at better then 9,000 rpm and hauls a 10 lb. model vertical with a vengeance. I've two of them and love them. Its best to run them a bit rich, for if you go lean just a wee bit, they will stall and quit. These were my first gas engines and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them 100%. They are a bit stronger then the DLE 20, but their true displacement is a bit more then 20cc. I've at least 50+ hours running time with them and love this little power house.

Hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like it's got a transfer port in the front, so it should make decent power.
Carb has a vent hole in the one side, likely for a diaphragm of some sort, but it could be a regulator as easily as a pump? Choke butterfly is obvious as well.
Best of all, it's a rear exhaust. Somebody, likely a modeler, is on the ball with that fact! That'll let it fit into many planes without hacking them up - and - be pretty easy to set up for a can or tuned pipe?
Looking forward to hearing more about it, for sure!

I love it when you're just sitting around begging to give out your money but a company doesn't seem to want it.... I've been waiting for the 26cc beam mount to come back in stock for many months. I want to buy at least two of them, but seems like RCGF has no interest in selling them.

But that is not true.... I have been with RCGF going on 9 years and I have RCGF engines in stock with orders in route to me about every 30 to 60 days depending on the time of year. Give us a call if you need something.

Yes it should be a pumper fed off the mounting plate port. Some of the miner things are still being worked out like fuel inlet to muffler location. This should be taken care of with the new carb design. Stay tuned..
