Six Guns

Been using pitts style mufflers for about 20 years (G-38 first) a vibrator to say the least, any way I have found that if you add a third attach point on the far side of the can, can to engine you will no longer have it coming loose. ( it can't be to the firewall) you may have to find a welder to add a small plate or spot to drill and tap the muffler can for the support leg

If you need a pic of what I am trying to say can do.

Cheers Bob T

PS captmicom I have to say THANKS for your support

Hear is another pic of a third attach point, this is on a RCGF-26. and this muffler was made from a wood mock up by bison in Canada, The volume of the can is approximately 2 X the std pitts can and the DB avg on this one is right at 87

Hope this helps

Now I have a question of you RCGF users, I and my flying buddy both have new engines, mine is a 62 and his is a 45.

The question is why would they both viberiate at low RPM's 1850 to 2k we both balance our props and spinners, both have only about 15 to 20 min run time, they are easy to start great throttle response and hi end. we normally pre-tune on the test stand and then put them in a plane and fly them for brake in, for about a gal std 87 oct gasl none ethenol at 35;1.

Pretty typical for a single in my experience. Just off the idle they'll get the tail surfaces jumping around pretty good, justifying the time/trouble you spent installing flying wires easily....

Maybe I should have added we are comparing them to older engines of the same brand except the 62 and that we are comparing to my 2 G-62's similar birds size and weight. all are bi-planes pitts, c/eagle and a weeks

It's not a big deal, was just looking for some other thoughts.

ahicks we are using functional flying wires on all of the birds, and maybe they will smooth out with a little more time on them, and thanks for your comment.

G-62 vs. RCGF does put a different spin on that thought. How do the engine weights compare? If G-62 is heavier, maybe some of that weight is in heavier crank counterweights?

Hi ahicks

At this point I don't have a clue on the that, as my G-62's have custom style pitts mufflers, and the RCGF-62 has a home made pitts style muffler and I have never put them on a scale.
But you sure could be right, from the looks I would guess the heads came out of the same casting mold, but that is ware the similarity ends. I have never had the G-62's apart, they have side carb's and the RCGF-62 is a rear carb.
Top end's are vary close in RPM's with the same props, So like I said it's not a big deal, as we both like our engines.

Yes I do, but do to health and weather I have not flown the Corsair I a year, and the 47 is ready to go after clipping the corn last fall.
Had the Corsair out but d#$@m air pump bat went south so just able to run it around on the ground a bit.

Becouse these 62's are shakers I recommend soft mounting them, also I have found that making the mount plate out of steel may eliminate the need for nose weight to balance.

Hello I have "heard" some of the smaller gas engines ,from other manufactuers still need to have a starter to help them to get started. Is there an issue with the 15-- 20 size rcgf motors?

Hi Ted,

I can't speak to all small gas engines. But as for RCGF, there is nothing wrong with the RCGF 15cc and 20cc engines. The issue is our brand new engines have not had a gas in the carbs before. You sometimes need to use a starter on a new engine to get the carb wet with fuel. After that they will hand start. The other issue that comes to mind for using a starter, is to use a prop with a sharp trailing edge.. (Not Smart to try to hand flip one of those)

To All of My RCGF Engine Friends
We are Proud to Announce
The Grand Opening of The RCGF USA Warehouse!!

As most of you know we opened the US Service Center a few years ago in order to provide warranty service right here in the good old USA. We have now brought RCGF direct to you via the RCGF USA Warehouse. We are adding a bunch of new resellers every day! It is real easy for your local hobby shops to become a reseller. Just have them give me a call to get signed up. If you want to buy direct you can go to www.rcgfusa.com and place your orders from there also. RCGF has also reduced the prices of all of our engines making them even more affordable!!

The long awaited day is finally here.
I have just this last weekend received the first RCGF 10cc beta gas engines. We are putting it through its paces and so far it is proving to be a little powerhouse!! Running it wide open for 15 minutes on a 60 size Ugly Stik, it only used about 2 oz. of fuel. I will keep you all posted and also let you know when it will be available. The cost should be $179.99 + tax.
