Been running my JBA 15 using the orginel big bore carb and it idles fine and runs great top end as long as you set it running a little rich on the ground. Set the idle first then set the high and back and fourth until you get the engine to idle and the engine transions to high running a little rich. Takes a little time to set but you will like it as in the air the engine leans out on the high side. Been running my engine for two years and it pulls great w/ APC 14/6 prop. I can start it by hand but I use starter for safety reasons. I almost gave up on this engine until I decided to try the rich setting. Made many a dead stick because it leaned out right after take off!

FOOPED , thanks for the input I will have to give that a try. did you have a problem with your exhaust at all where mine goes together it leaks like you wouldn't believe I got rid of the exhaust and found some thing else

I used high temp gasket sealer on the muffler and the bolt holding it together also on the flange /no gasket when bolted to the engine and have not touched it again. I have it mounted on a 60 size Ugly stick an everyone comments about how well it runs. the plane is alittle bit on the fast side. I like the speed and then slow it down for almost a stall for slow flight. Rolls,loops ,inverted, knife edge. not very good ones, but fun spins. Fun flying stick stuff. Hope this helps you. The engine has a lot of power for its size.

Captmicom , you work on these RCGF engines what is the main thing you see over and over again on these engines and is there anyone out there that has more than 5 gal. of gas thru an RCGF engine I am thinking of buying an engine for another warbird but it is a toss up
between a couple different brands. I am looking for some input

Fooped , thanks for the info on the exhaust I think I will look into a different exhaust system maybe a J-tec

Hi Jim,

Sorry for the late response, I just this minute got back from the AMA Expo. I have upwards of 5gals through a couple of my bigger RCGF engines. They are running as good or better now then they did when they were new. I think it is all about what you want and what you are really looking for. RCGF has as good or better quality then other brands out there, but when you compare price we have dropped the hammer there. Look at www.rcgfusa.com you will see what I am talking about. I have as well pulled service on many RCGF engines that were more then 5 and 6 years old that just needing a little clean up and nothing more. Than is about my two cents for now....

my Q. That made the decision as to what I am going to use for the power plant
in the build I am working on now

Well I have finished my Topflite 60 size corsair with the RCGF 20cc rear carb ( if you want to look back a page or two , I had problems with trying to figure out the choke with the spring )....anyhoo, the choke is attached to operate via a mg servo now and I think that'll take care of things hopefully .
For those with the 20cc rear carbed engine.....whats your thoughts on using a 16x10 prop on it? I found an unused APC pattern prop 16x10 in my prop drawer that I thought may make this plane go fast maybe, whats your thoughts? I have a Master Airscrew Classic series 16x8 mounted to it now as well as a Master 16x8 "K" series to try out on this warbird. What kind of rpms should I be taching for on the ground? The engine still isnt broken in yet and has maybe a half gallon of fuel thru her so far.

John my 2 pennies worth I have 2 of the 26's and both are great, 1 has about three gal's and it just seams to keep getting better last time I checked RPM's was like 6950 to 7025 xor 18 X 8.or 20 X 6, but I don't have a clue on the 20's,and just thought this should give you a starting idea.

My first RCGF 20 was the old side-ported version. Bought it from "Piston" and he had hand fitted it. He said use a 16x6 and 32-1 synthetic oil. It runs like a scalded ape and has never given me a bit of trouble. My DLE 20's use a 16x8 or a 17x6. I think the RCGF just likes to turn up. I have never tached it, though.

Hi John,

The question should be "what do I want to do with the Corsair?" Fly around with your hair on fire or fly scale? If you want to fly scale I would use maybe a Xoar 18x6. If you want to go fast find a Xoar 16x10.
That should give you some idea of the spread on these lil guys. I just sold my 96" span Super Decathlon that had an RCGF 20cc rear mount in it. I was swinging an 18x8 and it flew scale at about 2/3 throttle. The days of needing hi RPM for performance is going away. These RCGF engines have a lot of torque for their size. You also need to remember your Master Airscrew or APC is not going to give you the performance that say one of my Xoar props is going to. You will need to try what you have on hand and go from there. A good base to start from for scale flight is a prop that will give you about 6400 to 6800 RPM on the ground. If you want to go fast use one that will give you between 7600 to 8000 RPM on the ground. The RCGF engines are designed for optimum power between 7800 to 8700 RPM. Good luck.. keep us posted and let us know how it goes..

Well I wrote a description of the video but it apparently got lost in the interspace. I'm tired now, so you can read the info on youtube. I haven't done a video review of the engine, but I think ya'll rather watch a video of the engine actually flying anyway. I'll try and give some more details on the initial flights tomorrow, and I'll give a more detailed review video of the engine soon. Needless to say, I'm super stoked on my second RCGF engine. I'm sold on them. As long as they have a gas engine in the size I need, I'm buying one.

Flying gets better at 2:30. First attempt at a "pop-top" at 3:15. My buddy didn't get footage of the blender, flat spin, or the landing, but she did everything flawlessly...very happy!

Hi Jim,

Cool I will look forward to seeing your post. I know BP is giving them away. I can't buy them from the factory for that price even though I am running the factory!! lol So when I need a 60cc I will buy it from them for now. The 60cc engines are from the older stock and do not have some of the new features of the newer design but they will still run like a scolded doggy. Good Luck.....

As I was told by the factory the BP 60s are older first rev they are selling off. The very first 60s had a smooth front shaft snout on them. The first release of the 60s had four braces on the shaft snout. The newest release has eight braces on the shaft snout. There are a couple of much smaller internal changes that you would need both revs to find. Nothing that would affect the performance to any degree. We have gone through all the first rev cases at the service center so if you have the older rev and you brake the mounting tabs off the back case, I will Recommend you have both halves of the case replaced instead of just the back half.

Hey Joe, I hadn't noticed that difference. I thought mine was just like the one shown on the RCGF website, but now that I look at it, the engine shown on the site is one of the early versions. It only has 4 of the reinforcing ribs on the crankshaft snout. My engine has 6 of the ribs. Is this the newest one, or is there yet another version with 8 ribs??? I bought mine within the last 6 months.
