Hi Steve,

The RCGF USA engines sold by authorized resellers here in the USA will come with a 2 year parts and labor warrantee on manufactures defects. I take care of all the service here in the US. Also if you bust it we can fix it but it will cost you. The 60T is available. As for the twin family we have, 20T not for release yet, 30T, 40T, 50T, 60T, and the monster 120T. I do also have other engines on the drawing board but we don't talk a lot about them because when we do our competition runs in behind us and they have the same engines two weeks later.

Thanks for the quick reply. So, if the need arises to send it in for service, where does it go? In the U.S.? Sorry for all the questions. I used to just buy stuff online without looking into it first and learned a couple lessons the expensive way. I'm sure a lot of us have. I think I will buy the 60 T for a 1/3 Andy Sheber Pitts build. One more question, is the 60T available now, and what's the site where I can order? Thanks again for all the info.

On your website that details the 10cc engine one part states the engine uses a 1/4-32 plug and next to the ignition info it says to use a CM-6 as a replacement. Which plug does it use?

Hey Lifer,

It uses a 1/4-32 plug. Thanks for pointing that out. We are still trying to clean up a few things. When the web designer posted the info I guess there was some cut and past that took place....

Well guys been NO activity on the thread for a bit. So I am looking thru my note's for the best way to tune a gas engine and for the life I can NOT find it. As I recall there is about 4 steps, but they should be done in the proper sequence. You would think a guy that has been running gassers for 25 years would have it in memory, but do to age (83) little things that I only need to do about once or twice a season I have to write it down, So if any one has the steps, Please post them, as one of my oldest RCGF-26 engine is telling me it needs to be tweaked.

Thanks in advance

Cheers Bob T

Forget the fact that it's a gas engine and tune it like it's a 2-stroke engine. Start your needles rich (like 1.75 turns out), tune the high end til it is in a clean 2-cycle and then lean the low-end needle til it has a clean transition. From that point fly it and make fine adjustments to suit your preference.

Thanks for the reply, I got to thinking about the hrs on this engine, so looked at the log about 15 hrs and never had a plug change, MY bad, pulled the plug it is showing some metal loss on the center electrode, but it is a nice dark brown, so a bit rich to, so will install a new plug and lean both needles a bit and see how it runs.

We retired folks have a lifetime of things to remember. That's decades of info. Sometimes it gets hard to find what we need.

You are not alone, with your need to write things down.

Well been testing my RCGF-26 it seams to be lousing some RMP, what prop's size is recommended, I have tweaked the carb and the max RPM on a xoar 18 X 8 is 6350 engine has great idle, transition and sounds good at fuel throttle, but my engine log show's 6500 on the same prop back about 8 hrs, of run time, I am running it on 100 ave gas @ 40 : 1 and a new plug. So any suggestions ?

Yea put a bowman ring in it! It seams they all have cheap rings in and do the same thing a bowman will straitened it right out.

If it has low compression when you turn it over slowly, it likely needs the ring seated. You can accomplish that with a few hours of break-in running or in about 10 minutes with a Bowman ring.

Ware do you get a Bowman ring ?. and the compression seams to be ok, I have 2 of these engines and with them side by side they are about the same only difference is this one has about 15 hrs and the other about 4.

It just seams odd as this happened all to sudden.

Ok got the rings ordered and a gasket set. so now what is the best way to break in the new ring set ? or just go back to the original break in procedure ?

Install the ring, install the engine in the plane, and fly it.

Lifer

Thanks again for the response, as I hate taking an engine out of the plane. To do the ring job all I have to do is pull the cowl, 2 muffler bolts and 4 head bolts.
Now it's just wait for the bits to show up.

Ditto on that! Now, when I buy a new engine, I install a Bowman ring before the first run. If the engine is already in the plane, I just remove the jug and re-ring it leaving the engine in the plane. In some instances I didn't even remove the muffler.

Hi Bob,

Just as an FYI.. I think on two ring engines Frank used to just put one ring back in. I don't if he is still doing that so ask just to be sure.....
