Bob,
I am sorry to hear that...Give her our best..
By the way I found a bunch more damage to your 62. It looked like it have ate something. The piston was messed up and not repairable. I will send all the bad parts back to you as well..

Hi Joe and thanks
About what the engine might have had for lunch ? don't have a clue. I ran it on the test stand for about 45 min with none oxy car gass and ashless 2cycle oil @ 40 to 1 as it became vary friendly, easy to start with a great idle, transition and top end went in the Weeks special, I fly off of grass got in 2 nice flights after the maiden, then let our club test pilot have another go at it, and all we can think of is he did not have enough speed when he lifted off and it did a torque snap roll, as I am a firm believer in plastic attachment bolts it just poped apart with miner damage to the plane. The Weeks is ready for it, and will be great to get it back in the air.
PM me for what ever the coast and we can settle up
Cheers bob T

Well a bit of an up date.
Any of you that have an RCGF engine and need repair I would recommend Captmicon aka Joe or need any help with your engine I can and would Not hesitate to T/T or send it to him ie: Aerovista Hobbies as I have had great service and response from him.
I have 2 RCGF engines that I did NOT get from him and he has done more the I expected on both, That said I got my 62 back and put it in the bird, fueled it up and now have about 40 minuets break in time on it, Idle is varying at 1980/3030 RPM's and great transition to full bore @ 6890 /6950 on a Xoar 22 X 8 prop and on the last 13 min run I did lean both the Lo & Hi needles what I would call a click, So now as weather and time off permits I will go flying
Again Thanks Joe

My 2 RCGF engines both lacked power and enough compression to hand start. There was nothing to flip against. Each received a Bowman ring with no second ring. Both hand start now and both have a MAJOR increase in power. Dual rings are not necessary in any way and I do not believe that the drag of the second ring will increase the lifespan of any engine! Drag equals heat!
Each to his own opinion.
Best regards.

All else being equal, until I see fairly unbiased before/after prop rpm data indicating otherwise, I SERIOUSLY doubt claims regarding increased power when switching to Bowman rings.
To remove a set of rings that are shot (for whatever reason) and hear/read that there has been a power increase when installing a new ring, OK, I can buy that. But to remove a set of good OEM rings to replace them with a Bowman ring on the expectations that I'm going to increase power? That's stretching my imagination.

What motors do you have, and how old are they? I've only had two RCGF engines and both had a LOT of compression and power. Both were newer engines though. The 26cc beam mount came out within the lady couple years, and I've got the newest version of the 60cc single. I remember the RCGF of old had a bit of a rep for being under powered, but from my experience and what I've heard from others, those days are gone. Hopefully for good. There were some major changes to the company a few years ago. I don't remember the details, but I know ownership changed and do did quality control.
The only complaint I've got was that the cdi magnet flew out of the prop hub on the 60cc. Now I just put a dab of epoxy on the magnet to make sure it ain't coming out.

Frist I really like my RCGF engines, that said my 2 mag-G-62 are old porting technology but are smooth runners.
Now the RCGF-62 seams to be a shaker I have double checked the balance on my props and spinners and switched them to the G-62's just to see if there was a difference the G-62's are still smooth.
So my question is do you thing it would pay the crank assembly balanced ?
There is an engine shop close by that will do it but only if I bring in just the crank assy.
So you thoughts guys.
Cheers Bob T
