It does not need much power, weight is a huge factor,OS 160-1.8 -2.10 Moki glow, would work well
Maybe a BME 44,FPE 43 or ZDZ 40 gas,dont bother with 50cc IMHO

The OS 160 with a Pitts muffler is a very good combo of power and light weight for that plane.

I'm tempted to try an XYZ 50 on it from http://www.southeastrcengines.com if the Brillelli ever gives it up since I suppose it won't be easy to get worked on. There is a guy at our field (excruciatingly slowly) working on that combination so I'll get to see or fly it for myself.

Hey Guisyl

Like skip1320 states, all the information about the RCGF engines are here [link=http://www.zrcgf.com]RCGF Engines-North America[/link].
Skip is also right on when he state that a 45cc would be perfect for your project. It should give you unlimited sky....

Does this plane have a tunnel for a tuned pipe?

Any 40 -46cc engine will work well. This plane has more than enough power to do anything you want with a 40. The orig. combo was with a 40 but then Brillelli started doing the 46 instead of the 40. The 46 was really overkill for the plane but fun to fly

I bought the combo with the 46 from brillelli after reading the review you wrote, (nice review) but i never received the engine. I just bought an RCGF 45cc, i only fly sport but i like to try to 3D once in a while, this will be my first gasser. I want to switch from nitro to gas cause the closest hobby shop from here is 3 hrs away and it's a pain to get nitro, unfortunetly i won't be flying this plane this year as hunting season is starting next week and by the time the season is over it is too cold with lots of snow.

Why not try this setup. MVVS 26.

http://www.3drc.info/forum/showthread.php?t=610
Look at some of the videos of the performance of this setup.

Hi. OCR99. Sorry but the EF yak hasn any pipe tunnel.
But, it is easy to make one and thats what I did.
A few formers some 5x5mm or 1/4" balsa and ply reinforcement
were I cut the landing gearblock. Just roll some very thin ply
to do the tube and voila.

Hi. The pipe gives you more power and we have not any problems with the throttle response
that some pipe setup has. You can get more power from those engines but as it is now it has been the quietest engine except from electrics at the competition (IMAC reading 83dB) and has been total reliable. With right cooling, oil etc.
As you can see my son Carl has used it in a lot of competitions. The EF 74” YAK is a good plane to put it in, its not the lightest plane, but its very strong, there is lighter planes in this size but in our case it must be strong enough to keep up with the abuse from very hard flying and the plane and engine has done this . Our plane weights 6.1kg with fuel, the pipe mod adds a little weight because the pipe is heavy but it climbs out from hover quite nicely OK it not ballistic. We haven’t really compared because we haven’t seen any other 26cc at the competitions only 50cc-160cc and they have been beaten in Sportsman and Freestyle. Maybe the pilot has something to do with it also.
But OK, you can put a 40-46cc engine in a 74” plane. The only thing I can think of is that the engine should be very cheep or that they are so low powered that it’s needed. But with the same setup that we have you get a nice combo with enough power and it’s very quiet. But it’s your choice.
Maybe some of the videos can give you the feel of performance.
and I found anotherone to.
Carl fooling around
