1436"in wing area. I think it's like 29oz wing loading. No shavings from the bore in mine .

(Thanks Larry for the prop hub extention details.)

I was going to ask that question because I was looking at pictures of the crrc and thought it looked like the same head. I noticed Valley View RC has pitts style mufflers for them and the stock crrc muffler looks to be a lot better then the TGY muffler. I did machine the spacer plate the TGY muffler so it mounts straight on the head. I have mounted my TGY 50 on a GP 1/3 Pitts and I bet it will pull it around just fine although I can tell from bench running, power on it is less then my DL50. Its the smoothest running gas engine I own! Thanks for sharing the info on the head. Hamman

I just saw the pics of the crrc pits muflers and it has a mounting tab on the back. the crrc engine has 2 threads on the back of the crankcase to bolt on the pits to the crankcase it self. So my guess is the the pitts mufler will fit the exhaust por but the tab would not have a place to be bolted down.

Pape, is there any way you can measure the piston diameter of the crrc50? The tgy piston measures about 45mm in diameter. The CRRC cylinder head does look very similar.

Hi all. I just ordered one of these and received in the mail. Looks great! Can anyone point me in the direction I need to go to order a spinner adapter? Do I need a new bolt, or a prop nut? I do not have a tap and die set avaialble, so I will need to order one. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help!

Find a spinner that is compatible with FTL engines

That was the previous name for this engine brand.

TGY-52

Can this engine be used as a pusher? ie cranked in the clockwise direction?
Are the magnets at 180 or can they be changed to 180
thanks

Got mine 6 workingdays after ordering!
I have tried a lot to find any dimensions on this engine, I guess I am not the only one that might want to install my engines inside a cowl, so here goes:

Dimensions:
Center of crank to top of sparkplugcap:
140mm/5,51"

Minimum lenghts af stand-off needed to clear fins of firewall:
8mm/0,32"

Lenght from backside of propeller(!) to back of cooling fins:
136mm/5,35"

Wideness of carburator with intake furnel to centerline of engine:
118mm/4,65"
Without intake furnel:
100mm/3,94"

Change the sparkplug to a resistortype a la NGK BPMR6F, Champion RDJ7Y or Denso T20MP-U!!!

Mine felt too tight on the bottom end. When it warmed up, it became worse! It felt like the crank was in a bind.
Pulled it apart, found that the front seal was a 14mm seal on a 15 mm shaft.
Bought the correct seal and new bearings,am also cleaning up the ports a bit and removing gobs of silicone!

Had mine for a few weeks now and was not able to run it until today as I was working on other projects. I used the stock spark plugs that can with the motor. It took about 25-30 turn to get it strated but once she did, it ran like a charm. I let it sit in idle for 3-4 mins and ran her up a few time. I used a 22x8 prop for 6400 rpm. It's rich on the top end but I will leave that way until the motor breaks in good.

Question? What is the lowest prop you can run on this motor.

I have a few question about this TGY 52 if anyone can help.

Do anyone know the thread size of the prop nut. This motor is going on my At-6 texan and I looking to use a spinner and need to get an adapter to use a tru turn spinner.

Also, at my field we have a 100 db ruling. I got the motor tested today on my AT-6 and the reading was at 103 db using the stock muffler and a 20x10 zinger wood prop. Do anyone have any ideal on how I can get under the 100 db using the stock muffler.

Go with a larger prop to get the RPM's down...

I used a 2" peice of a Dubro exhaust deflector on my CRRC 40 and it is noticeably quieter, it stays on fine with 2 wire ties. You can put a small bead of JB weld on the muffler outlets if you have trouble keeping them on. My RPMs stay the same with the extention off or on. Larry

Need some help as to what went wrong. Yesterday I maiden my AT-6 with this motor and all went well. Today I started receiving radio interference while in the air and almost lost my plane. I was getting glitches on all surfaces. I have a JR 2.4 receiver and radio. My ignition is mounted inside the fuse on the firewall and my receiver is place far {over 12 inches away} from the ignition. This is my first gasser so still trying to learn more about them. Both the flight battery and ignition battery were fully charged.

I think someone said to replace the plug to a resistor type. The supplied plug is not that good.

Man...that TGY 52 could use a 90 degree intake manifold so carb would not stick out so much. Not to bad a looking engine though! Capt,n

I have discovered that the type of prop will make all the difference in the world. I seem to remember getting mine from Troybuilt years ago, but PK props would lower the RPMs and (depending on the airframe) increase the performance at the same time. This in addition to lowering the noise. If you can't get a PK, then a Menz standard works well also. I had a GP Pitts and switched from a Zinger pro 22/10 to the PK 22/8 and RPM dropped from 7000 to 6600 but after takeoff I had to dial in a ton of down trim as the plane tracked so much more solid.
