I have often had good luck holding the screen in a forceps then holding it in the flame of a match or lighter. It burns the fine stuff off then you can just rinse it off in alcohol or clean fuel. With the advent of so much alcohol in our fuel here in Florida (I think about 10%) I have been having problems with the alcohol attacking the neoprene gaskets and any neoprene fuel lines causing almost instant screen plugging. Since then I have switched to Colman camp stove fuel with good luck, two gallons through so far with no more crap in the fuel lines.

RE: Dirty Walbro carb screen
i don't understand why you would clog this screen in a walbro carb in a model aircraft airframe. don't you filter the fuel BEFORE its gets to the fuel tank?? i personally remove this filter screen as it blocks very easily....i have had a case where i cleaned the screen...refitted it and it blocked almost instantly on engine startup....this was traced to a faulty filter clunk in the fuel bottle we were using.

Agree, fuel should be filtered before going in the fueltank.

You folks may know this but there is a screen on the other side of the carb as well. It's under one of the little plugs and if it gets plugged up it can make you pull your hair out. Maybe that's what happened to mine; oh well I'm too old to care about hair anyway.

Hi Karol,
Some have it, some don't but on the carbs I have (I just changed the screen on my DA) when you remove the regulator cover there is a small brass cup shaped plug and it's under that plug. It provides fuel to the high speed needle and if it gets trash in it the high speed will run lean no matter what you set the needle at. If you purchase a walbro kit the new plug and a new screen are in it so you don't have to worry about damaging the old one getting it out.

Skip, I think it's a WT642 but I will have to look next time I yank the cowl off. Gettin too old to remember these little details.
Correction, it's a WT613 - 201B

RE: Dirty Walbro carb screen
You may have already answer this question but here it goes. I have a Walbro carb on my 3 mm toc 50cc engine. The factory settings are 1 1/2 for high and same for low. When i give it full throttle it ony goes to about 5400 rpm. It should be at about 7200-7800rpms. When i turn the high screw to richen it up it doesnt matter if i turn it 1/8 or 1 full turn it doesnt do any thing stays the same. I think the carb is dirty could that be the problem. or is it something else..

eagle flyer, What brand and size prop are you using? You may want to check this thread out, I believe it's the same engine http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_55...Cengine/tm.htm
