Default Ignition battery connector for DA-50

I am installing my first DA-50 and I have a couple of questions concerning the ignition battery connector. What is the current draw of the ignition system? If I replace the Power-Pole connector on the ignition power cable with a Futaba type connector, will the Futaba connector handle the current?

Haven't they fixed that yet? They should have put a Deans connector on that years ago already. Amazing.

The regular Z connectors that we use are rated for 3 amps, and the wire is rated for 7-8 amps . Your ignition won't draw near that. They all vary some(depending on the manufacturer and number of cylinders). Think about it if you use a 1500 ma battery and can fly all afternoon(5-6 sorties x 15minutes) then the ignition can't be using all that much current. Besides the full current is only used at full throttle. You can buy 2500ma batteries these days so it is even better.

I rather prefer the Power Pole connectors for power systems....

Thanks for the help. It's either cut the Futaba connector off the switch and put a PowerPole on or cut the PowerPole off the ignition and put a Futaba on. I guess I'll flip a coin.

Either way you can't let the connectors just flop around in flight.

I always use heat shrink tubing over my connectors and secure the cables to the side of the aircraft with tie-wraps.
