If I use Penzoil after breakin, I mix it 40:1.

I used to start at 32:1, then move to 40:1 after break-in. Though I do have two engines that I started on 32:1 and have left them there ever since...they are very happy engines, and I don't mind the paper towel I need to toss into the flight box. I can't say I've noticed any significant difference between running 32:1-40:1, great oil though and have no plans to move away from it.

Air cooled @ 32:1 from day one, nothing but happy engines. I might try going down to 40:1 this year.

40 many frequent flier miles at this ratio and my weedeater and chainsaw also love it. My chainsaws got about 15 years on it and in South Louisiana with the hurricanes it to has many frequent flier miles on it

i start at 32 to 1 and usually stay there as the motors are not hurting for power along with no need to retune.

32:1 for break in and after thinking about it, I may just stay there. Even breaking in my current motor, there is not that much to clean up-only on the left stab/elevator.

What would be the reason to go from 32:1 to 40:1 on a DL50?????

40:1 after break in cuz that's what the engine manufacturer recommended.

i do not think a person will see a differnce of going from 32 to 40 to 1. now maybe at 50 to 1 there would be a little less to clean up here. I am no expert as i am just guessing while we wait for the experts to chime N. I think my mind, and bearing love the oil i give them at 32 to 1 but i think they would still out last my needs at 50 to 1.

Save a little on oil. You can get 2.5 gallons of mix compared to 2 gallons with an 8oz bottle of oil. I've seen no wear signs and hardly any carbon build on my engines at 40:1. Very little clean up also. I go through alot of this mix- lawnmower, snowblower, weedeater, and leafblower.

Started out with Bel Ray MC-1 at 50:1 but have recently switched to Red Line at 40:1, plus it cleans up much easier than the MC-1.

The info that came with my 3W said to start at 32:1 and move to 50:1, which is what I did.
