RE: 20cc rear carb engine
Thanks for the link but I already have seen that one. It is a side carb model. I want to find more about the rear carb since I have a model I am planning on installing it in. The width, height and weight will decide if I can use it. Also I am interested in the price. It has been a long time since I neglected to ask how much before I bought anything.

RE: 20cc rear carb engine
decent rear carb 20cc?? not likely to happen soon at a decent price. 20cc is still the realm for glow engines, so at best you could see a glow engine-like gas engine with front carb, so it can do without the xtra parts needed for a rear carb lay-out. Just my thoughts, it may not be yours.

RE: 20cc rear carb engine
Mitchf, you have been very helpful. Now would you mind giving me the measurements for prop hub to firewall, mounting width, width including factory muffler and height from centerline? Once I get these measurements I will be good to go. I plan to mount the 20 on a Bruce Tharpe Flying King.

RE: 20cc rear carb engine
I talked with Henry at RCGF about rotating the cylinder towards the rear. He and his crew think it is possible. You have to modify the cylinder skirt to clear the crank counter balance, but should work. I have one on order. I'll break it in stock, then later I'll sacrafice the warrenty and rotate the cylinder and see if it works. I'm planning on putting mine in a Rascal110 and some time later, I'll buy a couple more for busa 1/4 scale J3 and L4.

What about ring wear/cylinder mating. If you break the motor in first and THEN rotate the cylinder, are you not concerned about the fact that the piston/cylinder have allready mated with one another????

RE: 20cc rear carb engine
Hey Guys
Aussiesteve and I are running the 20cc side and 20cc rear to get the numbers. As distributors of the Aerovate engines, we prefer that the guys put the rpm and thrust numbers on the blog, but these engines have stirred our interest. We see these engines as extremely plausible replacements for 70- 120 ci glow engines.
We put the engines on test stands and ran them using 32:1 gas/oil.
20cc Side mount - 16/6 - 9300 rpm...
20cc Rear mount - 16/8 - 9300 rpm....
The engines have less than an hour run time on them (he and I are in the middle of 6 other projects!)
There will be video posted on the
[link=http://www.zrcgf.com]www.zrcgf.com[/link] site tonight of the 20cc running a Profile plane... REALLY NICE!!!! Thanks T3BEATZ!!

RE: 20cc rear carb engine
Wow.. nice videos! If those RPM figures are correct - the slimy and expensive glow power is over in 60-90 class as well!
Very nice engine! Its light, cheap to buy, cheap to run, very powerful and looks good. At last..
Its time we will see a 50% drop in price for OS engines hahah!

RE: 20cc rear carb engine
That's a great looking motor, good price, and should be the perfect motor for my Sr. Telemaster to keep it out of glow. I only saw the side carb for sale on the website - any news on when the rear carb would be available?
