Ban on 2stroke gas engines in CA?
Is is true that California has instituted a ban on 2 stroke gas engines? The pollution cops are actually going to come down hard on people using these little engines in weed eaters, lawn trimmers, scooters and (God forbid) our model airplanes?

There was talk a couple of years ago about the U.S. banning the import of 2-cycle engines to cut down on the pollution. But nothing ever came of it.

It's a-lot of pee pee ca ca as Robin Williams would say. Two cycle motorcycles didn't go away because of air polution. They went away because people didn't buy them. Two cycles can be made as polution free as four cycles. Convertable cars didn't leave the market for a while because of safety issues. They went away because people were not buying them.

Few states have banned 2-stroke outboard boat engines and snowmobile engines. California has banned 2-strokes on alot of lakes, that goes for all personal watercraft and outboards. I believe Colorado has banned 2-stroke snowmobiles. It would not take much for them to take it farther. Just have one treehugger show up at a giant scale fly-in with all the 2-strokes flying around.

I for one will not be on a 4 stroke bike (dirtbike). It's one of those things thats in your blood I think. Matter of fact my heart may stop if it doesn't see a certain amount of motul daily. Have been a 2 stroke nut since day one and will be til I die. I hope for the sake of FUN this is a rumor.

A few industrial countrys have already banned the import of 2-stroke engines-vehicles and parts for them for the sake of pollution control. It is bound to happen here as well but it might not be for years until it happens.
