The Field that i will fly gas from is dirt.
Does anyone have ideas on how to use some kind of air cleaner on this engine, will be on AW 120 Yak.
The nice Field with asphalt does not let any gas!
Thanks

Tom,
One possible solution would be to add a velocity stack (available from www.toni-clark.com , page 85 - called intake tube).
Advantage would be that the intake opening would behind the firewall and you could use foam rubber as a gasket. For further protection, a piece of women's nylon hose could be used on the velocity stack opening and held on with a rubber band.

Toni-Clark has nice stuff for sure, but it isn't inexpensive. I'd suggest a more substantial order if you are going to do so from them, to make it worthwhile. The velocity stacks are readily available, and inexpensive right here in the states.

Here's a few to get you started:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...odID=B%2BB1020

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=VNR1952

About half way down this page: http://www.bennettbuilt.com/page2.htm

3W has some really nice stacks, even ones designed to accept their very nice filters. They are pricey, but these should give you some ideas and you can proceed from there.

http://www.aircraftinternational.com...s/MIntake.aspx

....any of the velocity stacks will work, just be sure to pick one with an appropriate inlet size to match your carb. I then go to nearby auto parts stores, or small engine shops, and buy the thin filter material that normally goes around the outside of rigid filters on various mowers...etc. Cut a piece and use a strip of velcro around it and the stack to hold it in place. Inexpensive, and affective.

As long as you are looking for scale or a little better on the Jenny, I would think it would be fine, from the Syssa website FAQ.... Sport flying with the SAP-180HP™ will be fine with a plane up to 18 pounds.....

Anxiously awaiting the ship notice and delivery....

Yeh I know, I've worked in shops and its always hard to get the first batch of anything out. You want it right so you usually triple check everything just to make sure. For me its getting cold so its not as bad, looks like you get flying weather most of the year.

Got this email from Todd yesterday:

"David,

got held up by the anodizer...thought that was going to be the
last thing to hold me up...

but they promised my parts by today...
and everything else is ready so if they get me my parts today we can
press bearings and tomorrow test and ship...fingers crossed.

We are going 240 here all day long making parts for the next round
already....but hopefully the anodizer will get these parts back to me
pronto! Yours will be going out in this batch....very, very soon...
We'll send the information for shipping so you will know when to get it.

At any rate...it should not be more than a couple days to get it out to you..

Sorry for the wait..."

Thanks and take care,
Todd Syssa

2 hairy46:
i've ordered one. order 298 but why are you so surprised? rcuniverce is a well known page and lots of russian rc pilots usually visit it.
if you would like to look for some nice ideas you could visit russian web page www.rcdesign.ru and its forum. i should say it is the most popular page amoung russians. probably google could help you to translate into english.

framkly speaking i hope to be the first russian who would try the engine. we are looking for any available information as well as you

Sorry to be so surprized! but some country's like Russia, China etc. you just do not think the freedom is there to do it. I was wrong, Glad I was wrong! It is nice to see so many country's share in a great hobby! Well the engine looks like it will be a good one! Hope it is better then exspected for you, what will you be putting it in? Take care! Bob

Bob,
i need an alternative for ZDZ-40 for f3a plane. i have 40rv modification. however it is too heavy to fit into 5kg limit. 40f3a is rather expensive - it's 440 euro- equal to 600 usd. and the weight is still more that 1 kg. announced static thrust of Syssa 30 seems good for me. so i prefered to try this engine. you are right- it looks nice. i even did not think for long to make a decision. just one call to Todd and i purchased it
as for clubs- there are such here but i have my own little workshop.

Last I heard (end of August) they were only waiting on gaskets and a few small parts. Now they are waiting on anodized parts, the crankcases? What else is anodized? Unless corrosion is a problem with the chosen alloy, anodizing is only cosmetic.

I remember the reason BME stopped anodizing. When the parts came back from the anodizer the tolerances were off for the bearing fits and the cases had to be reworked. Could this happen to these parts and push back shipment? It's a possibility.

Still no video of tach readings with the exhaust tone inserts (not supposed to limit performance), 3D flight performace or a cowled warbird install and flight. Just a vid of the uncowled engine idling in a Cub.

Since it is claimed the engine makes the power of a O.S. 160FX how about a video of the engine spinning a APC 18X6 or 18X8W showing the tach readings like the DLE 30 videos.

Sorry, but I have to play devil's advocate until these ship. What's up with a company billing your credit card in full for a product that is not ready to ship. I don't see anything about preorder on the website.

Hey Todd,

My Funtana 125 came in to RC Hobbies in Winsted, I'll pick it up tonight or tomorrow.

Do you still want me to bring it to the shop so we can determine the exact standoff lengths? Can we do it on Saturday, it looks like a rainy day so don't think we'll be flying? If not, I can drop it off and you can take measurements when you get a chance.

Last time I visited the shop it looked like you were on the home stretch to ship engines, good luck with your anodizer.

I can certainly wait for my engine, I haven't ordered servo's or any other parts to complete the Funtana, and have plenty of flyable planes while I'm waiting. Take your time and deliver a batch of great engines!

I'll shoot plenty of video when I get my plane together to help the cause!

Later,

Damon
