Default Zenoah G23 circa 1993 Specification

I have a Zenoah G23 circa 1993. I have only run it once and then it has followed me around for the last 27 years. I am interested in the difference with my engine compared to the later G23’s. My spec sheet says 1.2 ps/7500rpm, torque 0.12 kg/6500. The data I can find online for a G-23A shows later models at 2.0 hp and turning 15x8 @ 9,000.

So with this lockdown I decided to show my son the old engine and see if we could start it after all this time.

I have the engine mounted on a model with a 17 x 8 prop. We used some Stihl MotoMix from the garden shed and amazingly we got it running. We were getting 6600 rpm at sea level. Afterwards I checked the mix of the Stihl and found it is 50:1 where as we should be using 20:1 according to the spec supplied. (2 stroke oil now ordered)

I would like to know the difference between the G23 and the G23A, also if our 6600 rpm is a good figure for the engine.

Cheers Rob in Worthing , South coast of England
