RE: NEW DLE30!
To much use when it was new prolly, or someone let the smoke out either one will kill it.
Sorry I couldnt resist.*L*
Check the leads to make sure it has a good connection and of course plenty of battery power. BTW how much battery are you using? voltage?
I'm no expert at it ,but what I understand is that there is a winding in the hall sensors and when the maggot passes under it builds up more energy and then as the maggot passes by it dumps it all and creates the spark and starts all over again. There is alot more going on but thats is a simple way of putting it. I would dare say if they quit working the winding has a break in it somewhere, or there is a bad connection.
Like I said I may be way off here and thinking of a pickup and not a hall sensor .it's all I can do just to get my shoes on the right foot and if I don't stop it my left foot is going to get sore .

Go to trouble shooting guide on C%H webb site .To check if pulse switch is out.RCEXL same as C&H isn't that suprizing.(sp).
Have ignitions ready to send to you. Do you need a Ignition for test bench. I have many used or trade ins. Will send you one.

RE: NEW DLE30!
Heat and vibration will not kill a proper ignition...There are about 23 years worth of engine conversions running around out there with the ignition circuit board solidllty mounted to the inside of an aluminum plate covering the rear of the mount....
Both mine and C&H...Don't try this with a 3W ignition...

Gas engines will not, or most likely will not kill when you back off the throttle. I had an old Fuji engine and had to shut it off by hitting turning the ignition power switch off (was too cheap to by a switch back then). Turning prop, reaching for switch = not safe. As for the cowl, I have found that on any gas engine you will benefit from a velocity stack. Even my rear carb engines I use them to eliminate any fuel spitting. Looks like Cyberwolf answered the rest. My honest opinion is that the DLE 30 will tear that 90 sized plane apart. If you are used to flying nitro, I would say my 74'' Yak 1.20 acts about the same as if you would put a Saito 1.00 in a 40 sized plane. Would be interesting to see!!

Thank you terrycustom
Hate to ask again.
But do i need to buy a Kill Switch? Or can't I just kill the engine like I do with my glow engine and use a throttle kill switch where it closes the gap in the carb and thus turning the engine off?
Um what is the hall sensor??
On my ignition there are 3 wires coming out of it... One with a red cap which is for the battery, another long black one which connects to the sensor that is in the front of the engine near the hub.. and another that says tachometer.. What do I connect there or does it have any use??
Also i plan on buying another DLE 30 for a Funtana 90 S I got at a great price but after mocking up the engine I noticed the carburator opening was very very close to the side of the cowling.. Besides drilling a big hole on the side of thew cowling so the carburator can breathe.. is there something else? like a Velocity stack or similar??
Also very important. How do i install the ignition? do i wrap it in foam?
Thank you terrycustom

The funtana 90 I got is a twin in a sense since I have another one but that one is flying a saito 150.. and since I read the saito 150 has a displacement of 26.4cc compared to a gas engine, I though another dle 30 would be good to put int its engine bay.. since its way cheaper than buying another 150 or 180.
I will just super reinforce the firewall and even put another firewall behind the original one to support the engine, plus lots of fiberglass and carbon fiber to strengthen the airframe.

Should be crazy powerful, you'll like the lack of mess and empty pocket from buying nitro for those big Saitos, that's for sure! I'm and all Saito or gas person. The more I fly gas, the more I complain when I take a nitro plane out!
Good luck!

RE: NEW DLE30!
I am really surprised at the power of the DLE 30. With my 18x8 Xoar my 10.5lb Edge is wild. I am going to try a different prop - maybe a 19x6 or a 20x6 when I convert to the rear carb. I used to fly my 16l b MW Extra 300S with a Supertiger 3000 and a 19x8 Bolly, and switched it out to a BME 44 using a 20" prop. Here is what I wrote about that combo when I was putting into my 27% Edge:
Okay, here are some preliminary results from today's backyard testing. The temp was about 40 degrees F, and I used a Hangar 9 tach. I was running out of daylight, but I think the readings are okay. I used a calibrated noise meter, at 25 feet over grass, perpendicular to the prop arc.
The JA Peacekeeper, weighing in at 7.75 oz.
With a BME 20x8 prop at 7000 rpm: 91.9 db;
with a Menz Ultra 20x10 wood prop at 7140 rpm, 90.6db;
with a Mejlick 20x10 at 7080 rpm, 90.5 db.
The Chip Hyde Quiet Pipe, running through KS exhaust stack and elbows, weighed 11.1 oz.
With a BME 20x8 wood prop, at 6960 rpm, 90db.
With a Mejlick 20x10 CF prop at 6900 rpm, 88.8 db;
with the Menz Ultra 20x10 wood, at 7000 rpm, 86 db.
I set the needles earlier this summer with the Peacekeeper muffler, and did not have time to make any adjustments. In fact, I just reinstalled the engine on the airframe for the test. So while the results may not be the "Peak" performance, they should show a decent comparison between the two

I have a feeling that the DLE 30 will be is not that far behind the BME!

Seems like a rear intake DLE 30 cc engine with a good flowing exhaust system should be a sweet combo. I am keeping up somewhat on this thread. Capt,n

RE: NEW DLE30!
I am turning a zinger pro 20x6 at 7400rpm more or less, with my dle 30. It pulls a old Hanger 9 78 inch edge 540 with an all-up weight of about 13lb. straight up out of sight. Has good pull out of a hover (not a rocket but good).

How would the dle compare performance wise to a saito 180? Thanks 871

RE: NEW DLE30!
Howdy all,
Just bought a new DLE 30 for my Yak-54, are they coming with a back mounting plate that fits up next to the firewall now or is that something custom that guys have fabricated themselves?
