RE: NEW DLE30!
I've only started to switch many of my planes to gas in the past year or so and LOVE the switch to gas!! When the day comes that we need to re-gasket the carbs how and where is the best place to get the carb kits from?? Also is there a good place for info on how to perform this properly?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

RE: NEW DLE30!
If you keep your fuel clean it will be many years before that is necessary. Kits are easiest to get at your local small engine repair shop, though many selling dealers also carry them. For the small WA and WT series Walbro carbs it can't be any easier, 5 screws removes both covers and exposes all the serviceable inner workings of the carb. If the engine was running fine just previous to needing new gaskets just pay attention to what you disassemble and put it back together the same as it was. If there is a running quality problem, further service may be needed but you must first understand how the carb works andhow changes will effect the running quality of the engine. In that case the attached Walbro manual should be helpful.
Well when the upload manager starts working again I'll try itagain.

Just this year, will be getting into the gas engines, have a DLE30 I'll be breaking in. Did buy a gallon of Coleman fuel - my impression is that it is straight gas with no additives. (???) Would like to try pennzoil (synthetic?) @ 30:1, but can't seem to find it locally. Anyone know a website? Any thoughts on the Coleman fuel? Many Thanx - Mike Brennan aka T-man49

Coleman fuel is not very high octane, so the power will be down. There is no benefit to using it.

RE: NEW DLE30!
A guy at our club tried the camp fuel only because he did not want the smell of gasoline burning.[sm=71_71.gif] He gave up and never really did get the engine to run right (not DLE engine). It would only turn a prop much smaller than specified break-in prop. He finally gave up on it.
I have no opinion, I never touched it, just what I saw of it.

RE: NEW DLE30!
Well yesterday started the break in period on my DLE 30... after 5 flips it sputtered to life with the choke closed.. opened it up and 4 flips later it was on for 15 min..
Running the 87 octane 4.25 oz of bel ray synthetic in its tank, keeped at it in my break in bench for 2 1/2 hours.. with a run time of 15 min then 20 to cool down fully then on again. Had to use an 18 x 10 prop since my 18 x8 prop i messed up badly in the drillign of them 4 holes and no hobby shop had it in stock so i had to use that one..
Ran perfectly , insane good idle.. still haven't touched the needles.
Did 5 24oz tanks.. the tank never got drained I still had about 8-10 oz left after every 15 min interval.. of course it was in a 1/4 stick or so I think setting since the throthle I had it set up manually using a bellcrank i modified to hold its position on the setting i put it on..
jeje when i build that break in pad, I never though it would see a gas engine in it..
That engine with that prop it was a hurricane being in the back of it.. and I though the engine was going to be loud [stock muffler] it isn't something that was overly loud..
Now tomorrow is back to the field to again place it on my stand and keep getting it a break in.. see if I can finally reach a 1 gallon.. or a bit more..
And since the engine fully out in the open no cowling or anything its cooling its self off with the prop air, plus the high winds where the field is, yesterday was 12 mph with 25mph gusts.
Plus the airplane that engine is going into arrieved also yesterday and I will finish building it in about.. um 1 month or so.. wanna re-inforce it big time..

RE: NEW DLE30!
Here is an interesting view of the "new" DLE30. Looks very close to Cyberwolf's design that works so well.

RE: NEW DLE30!
Well today I finished the initial break in period.. I think..
Ran 2 gallons throught this engine in my test stand and as soon as i finish build, re-inforcing the airplane its going into.. I'll finish its break-in period in the air.
Should i continue to use the prop i have right now or switch over to the Xoar 19x8 I'm going to fly the plane with???

I see the new DLE-30 on the website, looks great! Any idea when the conversion kit comes in?

I just got an e-mail from Jody that the kits should be to them this afternoon. Cost is $15 per kit + shipping...not bad at all. Get em while you can.

RE: NEW DLE30!
So when Ibought the dle-30 on closeout and heard about the rear conversion kit, Ifigured Iwould buy one for sure. Since then Ihave done a lot more reading about the engine, and it seems that most people have been using them as-is for a while without trouble, so now Idon't know. Iam a little concerned about the increased mounting depth, do we know how much it will be yet? Ihaven't even ran mine yet, so Iam sort of inclined to wait and see how it does. But for $15.... Ican't decide.

$15 is not bad at all. If you get the new backplate, it would allow you to mount your engine 2 diferent ways for different airplanes. Good to have. capt,n
