guys, opinion about hovering a 11.5-12 pound airplane with the DLE30, im using 19x8 Xoar....im on the second gallon and seems that the engine need more power for pull the airplane out of hover. I was considering maybe 18x8 or maybe 20x6-8 xoar.

I have been running Zinger pro 20x6 on 13lb planes. They have ok pullout. A xoar 20x6 would be better I am sure. A 12lb plane should be very good with a quality 20x6. I also like the 20x6 props for easy landing with 2000 rpm idle speeds.

hi all,
has anyone tried to soft mount one of these engines, just something to take some of the vibration out, I have my own design that works for 120 f/s, a second firewall held in place with about 4mm Silastic, but not sure if it would work for a DLE 30
cheers, Oldtimer.

Don't make the mount too short or it will create more problems than it cures

I got a chance to fly my Taylorcraft today with the dle-30, guys that lil engine is awesome. Runs like a champ, starts easy and holds a really low idle. So much power for a little engine. Im hooked on 30cc size stuff now.

gen3v8 that looks like the nitro Ultimate bipe. I had one till a mounth ago and it was one of my best alaround flying planes. I had a 26cc on it and was planning on putting the 30 in it. I dumb thumb it out of a low knife edge. I gave it a good burial and will buy another one when I can find it. No more low flybys for me, at least five mistakes high from now on.

Capt J,
DLE 30 side carb. The pipe is a, modded to suit, up too 35cc marine silenced type. It has a real chamber with converging and diverging cones and the silencer at the rear.
I have used a marine 26cc header and mount with the o rings replaced with aluminium spacers(aluminum) LOL
The engine turns at 9750rpm with an APC 18x8 hot on the ground. It`s silent, starts easier, idles slower and goes heaps harder.[8D][8D][8D]

I wonder what it would spin a 18x8W? Those 18x8 props have less load than a APC 17X8W.

APC 17x8 9720rpm on the ground. I dont know if it`s a W. It is my mates prop and it has a much larger blade.
He spins it at 9400rpm with a CRRC 26cc pro "R" engine and gets similar rpm with the APC18x8. His motor also runs a pipe, piston and port work!!!

Zenoah used to make a marine pipe for the G-26. Worked real good with the G-26 but I don't know how it would work out with the DLE 30. $$$$

Good Idea....26cc pipe for boat. I just happen to know a guy thay got out of boat racing....I kinda recall he had tons of pipes...like for 30cc fast Homellie and Hansen racing goodies.

My DLE30 with side carb quits on every landing and has deadsticked a couple of times in flight. There is a lot of brown fuel on the wing coming from the velocity stack. I have leaned out the high and low settings, still quits. I am running a vess 18x8 prop, my plane is a yak 54 from areo-works. Idle rpm is around 2000rpm and around 7800rpm @ full throttle. I have switched oil mixture from 32:1 to 40:1 on 2nd gallon. Runs real good at full throttle, burps a lot on the transition. No way to convert to rear crab, I must make it work........ All suggestions will be appreciated.. Thanks ML3614

<hr />It sounds like the reed valves or the piston ring is not seating good. Does it start by hand easy? What is the lowest idle you ever got....was it close to 1700? Capt,n

If when you start the DLE30cc from cold and it runs without dying....it is most likely too rich on the low needle. That will make it rich & sputter on throttle up. Let it warm up be for you adjust the low end & lean it out to a point where it will rev up without hesitating. Capt,n

I was wondering if anyone has put a smoke system using the DLE 30? I have a Giles 202 running a DLE 30 and was thinking of adding a smoke system to it? If anyone has suggestions on the pump and/or pictures I would appreciate it!

Well ive created a problem for myself, I flew several fights the other day and the dle-30 ran like a champ. Naturally I had to go tweaking on the needles like a idiot and now I cant get it to run good again. I just flew it at my house ( which isnt the best place to fly ) and everytime id get to wide open throttle it would sputter. So I would land it each time and try to get it back to the original setting that I had. The more I would lean the H needle it would get just a little better, but the last flight I had a dead stick and all most lost my plane. Man do I regret fooling with those needles. I'll be honest, im by far not an expert when it comes to gas engines thats for shure. My ignition batt checked out fine and the switch is working ok also, so im pretty shure it has to do with my stupid idea of turning the needles. The engine turns over fine and all seems to be ok, I was scared that it had locked up. If the high needle is to lean will it over heat and lock up are will it just kill like mine did?

It will usually quit long before it locks up from being too lean

So it more than likely quit because it was to lean then?

I wasn't there?

Keep in mind that the low speed needle has considerable influence over the entire rpm range of the engine. It naturally has the most influence at idle but effects performance through out especially in the lower mid range.

Moki 1.8 Why do you think the engine is locked up? Take the spark plug out & get some oil in there and if it will turn over easy...it should be ok. Turn it over several times. Does it now turn free without the plug in? Put you spark plug back in and see how the compression is. Are you shure you are turning the right needles when tunning? Let us know more. Capt,
