cant find the post where someone said the wt 664 was the same as the wt 805 except for cost and choke detent...tried to buy one but not available. during research on 664 i discovered it does not have an external pulse port configuration. maybe the original poster can comment! thanks.................larry

Most WA & WT style Walbro carbs can be converted to external pulse

It requires a pressure nipple in the pump cover and blocking the pulse hole in the end of the carb that fastens towards the engine.

There are engines that have an external pulse line but the carb end fastens into the carb insulator block and not the carb itself.

thanks for answering...may i assume that i would just have to take the cover off the 805 (which has the pressure nipple) and put it on the 644 ?.....then connect the pressure nipple to the insulator block. nothing to due inside the 644 carb.

Make sure you also get the newer version reed block - it is deeper than the original ones. i cant remember the exact differences as it was some time back i was messing with these, but there was s ignificant difference when adding the 805 carb and deeper reed block.

i took the choke shaft, spring , and ball from an old walbro and put them in the wt-805. worked perfectly.

Hi

Has anyone heard from Henry lately ?

At the bottom you will read a letter that I sent to RC Aero . If you guys with an YDA-56 , do you guys have that play in the connecting rod that I have ? . It does sem to be excessive . Any help or reassurance from someone with a YDA-56 , will be greatly appreciated .

Thank You
Regards

Michel

Hi

Last fall I bought an engine off Henry . It is only now that I have had a chance to run it up on a test stand , before I install it in my P-51 . Here is my question :

If I grab the hub of the engine , and turn it back and forth , there seems to be extensive play between the crank connecting rod pin , and the connecting rod .

This does not seem normal to me , as I mentioned , it does seem to be excessive . Not the normal , " topend play " . This is , " NOT " what I,m talking about . This , " Play " , seems to be through-out the rotation of the crankshaft .

Now , another question . If you ask me to send this engine out , it is , " I " , who has to pay the shipping , " To " , and " from " , the repair , destination .
This means that I will pay a lot more for an engine , that was sold at it,s original price .

Any suggestions . and what do I do now ?

Thank You

Regards

Hi,
Reading some posts on this page about the JC28 and WT 793 carb. I went and checked mine and I also have a WT 793A. It has an external pulse line.
I am about to use this engine for the first time. Should I consider replaceing this carb with a WT 644 if I want the best performance?
Thanks for any help.

Ken

Try it with the original carb first and see how it runs

Ken I agree with w8ye. Try the carb you got first. Get the engine broke in somewhat before you judge the outcome. P.S. I have been in Apopka a few times & love that area. Capt,n ...cool...damp Mich.

Thanks for the replies guys. Just couldn't tell from the thread if this was a must swap or not.
What would the WT644 offer over the WT793 besides the bigger venturi anyway?

You can use the knock off Walbro from a DLE 20. They work very well.
