I love it too...trouble is my wife hates it! I'm to the point where I have to make a decision. She has broken one too many planes and I'm really losing my patience!
So I'm not the only one with one of those! The only reason she tolerates the hobby and a garage being full of planes is I keep telling her I could as easily be spending money in the Casino or lounge chasing another woman that will go to the flight field with me. She still hasn't found a good come-back for that line!

BREAKING YOUR PLANES!?!? man, my girlfriend and i love each other, and she LIKES planes, she says she just doesn't love them like i do. she knows if she broke one of my planes all heck would break loose!! my hobbies do not include watching TV, yakking on the phone, or shopping. that's when i build . good luck with your decision. we all feel your pain!

Don,t do what I did. I sold everything to do with RC in "92" thinking it would help the marrige of over 27 years. Well all it did was put a lot more money in her hands. That was my first long break from anything RC. About 9 years later I married a women who loves me for me. She also likes to go to any type of airshow. When we go to Florida, she loves the air show at Tyndle Air Force base, the Last week in March. Best Regards Capt,n

It was my wife that asked me what I wanted many years ago for a birthday and I told her an RC airplane and she bought it for me. Then while still building it she told me many times she would break it ! I always put my family first and found very little time to work on it. it was her that was very self centered and got or did what she wanted! but I got what I wanted a few years later when she left me and my daughters to check out the greener grass on the other side of the fence, then she smoked it and did every other thing till it took her life! But my daughters call me everyday to see how I am doing and its always great! I found the meaning of life along time ago live it enjoy it because it is a gift and we only get the one shot at it on earth! Would I put up with a woman breaking my planes! Well lets just say she could have the boot thats up her ***** when she leaves!

Very well put hairy, it pretty much sums up my outlook on life. You only get one shot at it, so keep on the up side and enjoy it the best you can.

I was out at a New Years party tonight and all I could think about was what time I could get home by so I could get to bed. I wanted to get a start on my new plane tomorrow that I am puttimg a DLE 111 on. It should be a monster. An AMR Giant Stick that is meant for a 50 to and 80. Yea I got it bad.....I had a life for a while until I decided to get back into this hobby. I love it though and for the life of me I can't figure out why I took a 13 year break. Funny how priorities change over time. Nice thing is now I can afford the things I only dreamed about before.

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!!!

ENJOY EVERYTHING AND NEVER LOOK BACK.

That'll teach you to go to idiotic parties. You could have been at home working on that model!!!

Doug - this ''hobby'' can become ''the Life'' - and obsessed RC'ers know it all too well. I went completely off the edge this winter, losing my senses completely becoming desperate for actual ''flying'' (I grow tired of the ''2D'' simulators, even having AFPD), so I bought a couple of the micro-indoor helicopters just so that I could feel a transmitter in my hands. Never thought it would go this far.....gassers are the greatest, no doubt, and the bigger the better -but for winter - well, these tiny Heli's have become a somewhat ''okay'' substitute.

Happy New Year to all !!! Buy more toys, play with them ALL !!!!
[/quote]

I am thinking of starting a "RC fliers anonymous" support group........................................Hello , my name is Dustin and I have not been able to fly for 3 weeks, This winter is Killing me! Normally I can sneek a flight or two in once in a while, too much snow and too much cold! I need to get one of those little Helis to fly around in my living room just to make sure I can still make something fly............... Oh man the withdrawals are just awful,, Im not sure I can cope. Just one more flight..........................please I will do anything for just one more flight.

I compared my girlfriend to a 'rolling harrier' the other night (New Years Eve)...

You know. Top rudder, push, bottom rudder, pull, Top rudder........

Are you guys saying that there might be something else to the meaning of life...other than model aircraft and engines...no way, I refuse to believe it. The most vivid memory in my mind has always been the Christmas day I received that beautiful CL Stearman PT-19 in Navy colors, held together with rubber bands, powered by the venerable Cox 049, what a day. That was more than 40 years ago, next to my family, it's been nearly my entire existence ever since.

OK, so I'm a nerd, no regrets.

I had a full scale student who had the control touch of an elephant. I spent a couple of weeks trying to break him of slamming the controls around, with no success. One day I began relating all of the controls, touches, and techniques to touching the body parts of a woman. Everything had an equivalent. At first he turned beet red and laughed at everything, but he smoothed out quickly.

Jody it is funny how some things will stick in your mind like that. For me it was my dad helping me build a rubber band Piper Cub Cruiser when I was 10 years old. I believe it was made by Comet and had about a 28"~30" wingspan. That was the seed that planted the bug. My first Cox model was a beautiful .049 Spitfire that unfortunatly only lasted about 30 seconds before I destroyed it in a crash.

I have a 36" wing span C/L side profile Cosmic Wind with a Torpedo 29R glow motor that I built in 1965 hanging on my workshop wall. Those were the good old castor burning days.

Even though maybe I should, I have no plans on that just yet, but maybe your question should have been "what will be buried with me"

BLW,
I gotta try your technique with my student, a full scale pilot also. I know exactly what you mean by "touch of an elephant".

Remember guys, its only a problem if you admit it!

Sometimes we just got to get into the students head deeper! I had a student that was 13 that was heavy thumbed soon as I would give him the sticks he would get into trouble, I asked him if he was riding his bike what would happen if he through the handle bars all the way right or left he said I would crash, All I said was same thing goes here! he did much better after that, love to teach the ones that want to learn to fly, My instuctors words still linger in my head and is used allot in the teaching that I do like don't try and make a bad landing work!
