Default I have no life!

I was out at a New Years party tonight and all I could think about was what time I could get home by so I could get to bed. I wanted to get a start on my new plane tomorrow that I am puttimg a DLE 111 on. It should be a monster. An AMR Giant Stick that is meant for a 50 to and 80. Yea I got it bad.....I had a life for a while until I decided to get back into this hobby. I love it though and for the life of me I can't figure out why I took a 13 year break. Funny how priorities change over time. Nice thing is now I can afford the things I only dreamed about before.

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!!!

ENJOY EVERYTHING AND NEVER LOOK BACK.

You're in good company man.

Sometimes I get asked if I'd like to be 25 again, and when I think about it I'm really having more fun now (esp with the hobby).

I took a break from the hobby in '66' as I relocated and could find no one flying C/L at my new location. Returned to the hobby in '79' when someone moved into my area and introduced me to R/C and what a change that made in my life. Imagine coming face to face with radio systems, present day adhesives and coloured shrink coverings ..... and now gas engines. This hobby of ours has certaintly come a far way and now I eat, sleep and dream about it.

Morning all, yup life is good. Everyone is still in bed and I can get a start on my new project. Perfect way for me to start the year.

As for things coming a long ways, I can remember getting my first Cox .049. It was $5.49 and I had to save up for it. I put it on a little control line Sterling Spitfire profile job that lasted all of about 10 seconds before I drove it into the pavement snapping off the end of the crankshaft and turning the plane into matchsticks. I was hooked.

You must be over 40. Seems some of what we found exciting when younger loses it's lustre about that point. Other things have greater value and hold interest better.

There are some things that I have reconciled to myself that I'll never see again - -

The big 4-0 or 5-0 or 6-0

Don't think I will see the BIG 70 again. Unless I go back to the future.

I think anybody that enjoys this hobby has a great life. It's a blast to put together things that fly. I would have been the same way at that party with a new project on the bench. Good thing I wasn't there or all we would have done is talked RC all night.

I don't blame you.

Same happens with me, when I don't build or fly I think I waste my time and feel so guilty abou this. This is a serious problem you know as I miss some other aspects from life, I think at some point will have to meet a psychologist... My sleep dreams are also related to the hobby!!!

Anyway Happy New year to everyone!

Nikos

This is my life! I too took a long absence from the hobby to raise my daughters when thier mother left us. Now that I got them all grown I am back n the hobby I love! I can not do anything without wishing I was home working on a project or flying one! This hobby is what makes me excited like a school boy when I get a new plane or engine! If there is a better life I sure have not found it! I gave up TV 8 years ago drinking 34 years ago this is what I spent the extra time and money on, One of my daughters say I should get cable again and I always tell her got time for TV got time to build!

Want to keep from crashing? Take off and land higher!

I went to a newyears party with the girlfriend, ended up going to the local karaoka and met up with a couple of friend from the RC club, talked all night about RC Buggies and the new track whilst drinking to much vodka, ended up puking all over the dance floor and being carried to the taxi stand. IT WAS A GREAT NIGHT OUT.
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Doug - this "hobby" can become "the Life" - and obsessed RC'ers know it all too well. I went completely off the edge this winter, losing my senses completely becoming desperate for actual"flying" (Igrow tired of the "2D" simulators, even having AFPD), so I bought a couple of the micro-indoor helicopters just so that I could feel a transmitter in my hands. Never thought it would go this far.....gassers are the greatest, no doubt, and the bigger the better -but for winter - well, these tiny Heli's have become a somewhat "okay" substitute.

Happy New Year to all!!! Buy more toys, play with them ALL!!!!

So I'm not the only one with one of those! The only reason she tolerates the hobby and a garage being full of planes is I keep telling her I could as easily be spending money in the Casino or lounge chasing another woman that will go to the flight field with me. She still hasn't found a good come-back for that line!
