Default exhaust grime ?

how much grime should one expect to see inside a muffler ?
reason I ask is I have some friends with gasser helis, they run a little more oil(4oz/gal) and their exhausts appear to be totally clean, no black grime.

It depends on a lot of things (Heli's are run full throttle most of the time)
[*]Oil type and brand[*]Gas : oil ratio[*]Needle settings[*]how the engine is run[*]And the engine itself[/list]

More oil (if recommended by the oil manufacturer) can often have a cleaning affect on the engine and exhaust. If you are running lean ratios and more heat things carbon up quicker, especially with synthetics.
I run Pennzoil air cooled at 32:1 all the time (4oz/gallon).

In recent times I have been running Saito four stroke engines on gas and I use the Pennzoil mineral oil Air cooled two stroke at 20:1.

Out the muffler is nothing but smut and is no problem

But the crankcase vent blows out the blackest oil you've ever seen. It looks like diesel crankcase oil.

The clean up is still better than glow fuel. It wipes off with a little 409 cleaner

w8ye,- When I have my carb dialed in, ever at 32:1, I have very little oil to wipe off of my planes tail feathers or belly. It does have a washing and cleaning affect on internals.

That is good to hear about the cleansing effect.

I've been running 32:1 Pennzoil in my 30cc  two strokes and hadn't particularly noticed any residue on the planes. There's a few little speckles that eventually get my attention and I clean them off.

I was wondering what kind of power loss and RPM reduction you have running your SAITOs on gas? I have a new SAITO 100 and would love to get away from 4-stroke fuel prices, but not if it's going to cause too much of a power loss. I have a H9 Spitfire 60, which weighs
9 lbs. Power for lift and some speed is a requirement. It idles real well mounted inverted. SO.. what are the operation disadvantages of going gas with the 4S? Thanks.
