RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
i took the walbro off my jc 28 and i looked at the carb mounting gasket , still attached to reed block (that black thing). the diameter of the large hole in the gasket was smaller than the opening in the block. something wrong here or it doesnt matter ? .............larry

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
As long as it is not smaller than the opening in the carb it should be ok.
I think that in some of the first batch of the 28cc that the reed block was to big and might have led to some of the problems with the way the engine ran, They had the same red block as a 50cc engine.
Is the engine giving you problems

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
it is the same size as the opening in the carb. engine ran ok. i noticed 2 small holes in reed block, but no holes in gasket. replacement gasket has 2 holes that match reed block.....do i need a gasket with 2 holes ...no holes or it dosn't matter...............thanks larry

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
No you do not need the gasket with two hole, they are for the pump on the carb and your carb has a external pump line that goes to the engine.

I do not know if it will affect the running or not, If you use it it will allow the pulse from the engine try to pump the carb also.

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
Some of the earlier 28's were delivered with the corresponding hole in the carb blocked to stop the crankcase pulse going via that route. Check to see if yours is one of those. If it is, the hole in the gasket is not an issue.
If you can't find a gasket without the hole, Some of the gaskets can be turned so as to block the gallery. Otherwise a dab of JB Weld or a lead plug will work to block the gallery.

A little better news on the 28cc exchange.
Kevin and I have been trying to figure out a way to get the cost down some on the exchange for the 28cc to the 30cc to try and help with the problems some are having with the 28cc.
Now if you have one and do not have a problem with it, There is no need to make the exchange unless you just want to.
What we came up with is $100.00 Exchange plus actual shipping cost from me, He is going to put the engines that people want to exchange in with my orders and it will save a lot on getting them to the US,
Now if you are outside the US you and want to make the exchange it will still be $100.00 plus shipping cost from him.
If anyone want to make the exchange they need to contact me at [email protected]
Mark, Sending you a PM.

Milton,
Just wanted you to know that I received the two 30's you sent in exchange for the 28's based on the deal above. Everything arrived in great shape. Guess it was just over a week ago I sent you the old engines. Thanks for the quick turnaround.
Great looking engines as were the 28's. Don't know why I had so many problems with the 28's but I am looking forward to putting one of the new engines on my 1/4 scale Hanger 9 cub.
Will let you know how everything goes.
Again, Thanks Much!

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
I have a YDA-56 in my 1/3 Cub, the engine runs well and pulls the Cub along just fine but I am having starting issues. When the plane has set for more than a day I have to flip the prop thru over 100 times witk the choke full on to get it to pull enough fuel to start. Do you thiok there is an issue with the carb on my engine?
I like how the engine runs but I really hate starting it.

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
The engine was like this when it was new and it has less than a gallon of gas thru it.
I have never had one of these carbs apart so I am not at all familiar with how they work. Where is a good place to get parts?
Thanks!!

Anthony, Not a problem for you-just be careful & watch the parts as they come out. I also think it's the carb, as you lift the cover you'll see a little screen [convex ]that might be dirty. That's a good place to start. IMHO. Good Luck, Bill

Hi
There are numbers on the side of the carb , either bring the carb with you or , take the number down , when you go get parts .

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
The engine you have there is one of the ones that got supplied through the JC engines chain.
It will be a WT 645 Carb. Diaphragm kit is a K10 WAT (Or a D10 - one has more "bits" than the other).
If you remove the carb make sure you don't overtighten the mounting bolts when replacing it as it will distort the rubber reed retainer if you do so. A drop of blue loctite on the bolts and gently tighten them is more than enough.
When replacing the diaphragm, use the Tan colored one (Teflon) which is also what should be on it from new
Also make sure the choke is closing properly.

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
A couple of years ago, I was at my local carb parts supplier (aka the local saw shop) and was seeking an overhaul kit for a WJ71 carb. The "helpful assistant" wouldn't even attempt to look up anythign because I wouldn't tell him what brand saw it was on.
I did exactly as you suggested. I took in a whole plane (a 106" Extra) put the wings on it in the carpark and took the whole plane inside the store. I even offered to start it up so they could see why I wanted the parts.
They soon got the message that I did knopw what parts I wanted - which they had on the shelf (I only wanted an overhaul kit for the carb). that particular assitant has gone frmo that store now due to a high level of customer complaints but whenever I go in there, they sure do still remember me LOL

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
If you want to increase the power a lot, change the carb to an HDA 245 (same carb as was used on the MT 57 and some others).
