Default Best Prop for heavy load Using G45

Hi,
I plan on using a G45 to pull a, 18lb-19lb or so plane. I know it won't have unlimited vertical. I would like to not over heat the engine. What prop could I use? I really like the performance I had with it using a 20-10 mens ultra and the NX 21-8 props on a 17lb plane. Any input guys?

Joe

Default Prop

Goekeli; I use an APC 20x10 on my 16lb Sig Sukhoi, and it flies great. You didn't mention what type of plane you're building, but this, or the Menz you already have, should be a good start........

Thanks guys. The plane I'll try it on is the used Aerotech Chimpmunk I picked up. 90"wings span and 72" length. The dry weight of the airframe is 11 lbs. Buildt like a brick &$% house. I brough it to the field yesterday and showed the old-timers and they thought it was a perfect match for the G45. The engine the manufacturer reccomends is the brison 3.2. Others put G62 and even the Sachs 4.2! I'm just looking for a flyer, not a 3D performer. JB, you know the sukoi is probably on my list next. I'd just like to use the G45 on something that would be fun. Do you know what RPM you get with the APC?

You also may want to go with a 18x10 and fly with speed and not power. This is an option!

Thanks Giest,
Smaller was on my mind. I do have an 18-10 and might try that. That way the prop can stay spun up and in the power band. (Acting like I know what I am talking about! ).
Thanks,

Joe

Default G45 Prop

I use a Menz 22x10 ultra @ 7100 rpm on my G45.
It is in a 19 lb Christen Eagle and performs very well.
Max power(torque) is in the 6700 to 6800 rpm range and I prefer to stay on the high side of the power curve.
I also have CH ignition on my engine and a Bisson muffler with the crimped ends cut off.
I use Amsoil series 2000 2 cycle racing oil mixed 50-1.
Thanks
John

That is really good John. Do you think the CH helps the RPMs? I get 7K on a 20-10 ultra. NX 21-8 was my favorite so far. Not for speed but for consistency.

Thanks,
Joe

Default G-45/ Texas Hurricane

Goekeli; I also have a Texas Hurricane from Kangke (Super Kraft) with a G-38 on it. It flies well with that engine, but if you have a G-45 lying around, that would be a super plane for it. The Hurricane has no bad habits; period..............

The CH ignition is supposed to increase the power of the G45, although I don't know how much.
I installed the CH ignition when the engine was still pretty new.
Smoother idle, easier starts, and more power!
I picked up about 300 rpm by going to Amsoil series 2000 2 cycle racing oil! Didn't change anything else-only the mixed gas.
Good Luck!
John

Hi,
I used a synthetic made by Imperial Oil (Exxon).
A friend changed to Amsoil from Optimol (synthetic) and noted an improvement of 200 rpm on his Q42.
Thanks
John
