I got a chance to meet Ken Lambert at his shop in Florida. I learned a lot about engines & what can be done. Ken has some real nice set-ups for doing machine work on about any part of a engine. We sure had a good time. I wish I could do the neat ideas he comes up with. Be sure that if you have a Supertiger engine....he can do wonders for it! Keep up the good work ken, I sure wish I lived close by.....I miss those good days together. Capt,n John

I saw that Magnum has a .52 size Gasoline engine for 200$..
Turns a 13"prop.

Great price, and hopefully runs better than the saito's did...as it is the same type of carb on it.

Not sure if it has a bearing on the rod.

Fox has a gas version of their .50 glow available now. Modified twin needle carb. More power than the Magnum. Turns a 12-6 at 10,500. It's $275 but you may be able to get it for less if you turn in a junker.

where does the opinion that a needle bearing is needed on the con rod or big end bearing for a gasoline engine?
They don't rev enearly as high as methanol engines so plain bearings (bushes) works 100%.
Look at most race car engines, plainbearing, high precision but they are plainbearings.
Big end bearings and conrod bearings are lubricated by hydrodynamic pressure so as long as the fuel or oil viscosity is adequate the film strength provides almost zero friction and no metal to metal contact.

Glow motors are a little different due to the higher rpm. Its just more economical to plug in a needle bearing  than to precision machine a plain bearing in such small engines.

Mpascual, I like this engine. I'd like to get one for a FW Ta 152H arf I'm getting. Do you know if there is a distributor in South Africa?
if not do you have the url to the manufacturer so I can find out the relevant info.

One more thing, the cooling fins on this motor is quite small but I would assume that the oil mix is higher to compensate?

captinjohn and moderators :

This is a trhead started to discuss about a new JBA .90 engine.

I don't know why people start to put Magnum 52 info in this thread and why does not start their own thread about MAGNUM 52

Thanks for the info captinjohn, but the link is not for the JBA .90 ( named J15G because its displacement : 15cc)
The engine showed in the video is a 50cc gas engine , also produced by JBA , the J50G , available at valleyview rc .

Thanks Mpascual.

What is the octane requirement for the JBA 15cc engine?

I read somewhere that it is 90octane but is that RON or the USA (RON+MON)/2

Very important bercause here in SA we have max RON95ULP(unleaded Petrol/ gasoline) at the pump.
AvGAS is higher at around 111 RON or racing fuel is around 100 RON. I willneed to know so I can understand if I will need to modify my retail site ULP95 or if I can use AvGAS or ULRacing Fuel.
The AvGAS and UL Racing fuels are a little less friendly to the environment due to veryhigh aromatics and in 100LL (AVGAS) the lead is not good stuff for people at a flying field.

Sorry RON is Reasearch Octane Numbers and determines anti knock at medium load
MONis Motor Octane Number and determines anti knock at max load.
US uses an average of the two for their octane number displayed on retail pumps.

Unleaded fuel 95 IO works well in this engine.

If anyone wants to run 50-1 oil in a small gasser, buy a new crank and rod before you do the testing, you WILL need it when your rod sticks to the crank from lack of oil......I have a ST 3000 crank and rod here from a customer who tried just that...It can get expensive....Engines with oil pumps are acompletely different situation...

Thanks for the info, Antique:

The manufacturer has tested the engine before put it on the market.
Also , the engine comes with a user manual. Maybe it's a good idea to read it BEFORE first run, i.e. the paragraph about fuel-oil mix suggested.

Today i've received first production batch of engines and spare parts.
I LIKE IT.
Tthe manufacturer has introduced some minor changes and improvements.
- The carburetor now has internal pulse like the Evolution 26
- The spark plug cap is now at 90 degrees, and comes with two springs to fit inside between the spark and boot.
- The lever for throttle is new.
- The front prop washer is harder than before, and does not bends (with APC props,).

Thank you for your words, and yes:
I started to play with engines with some C/L diesel engines, ZOM, LLAM, PARES, SuperTigre G20/15 , Rossi F15, , and at 14 years old i was one of the mechanics of a combat CL team on a world championship here in my country.
Now (some years later) i'm the support for some engines brands ............. on my leisure time
Today i've also received a new CRRCpro GF55I twin engine ....

What dilemma !!!!! I must choice between two for test .................

Yeah I was screaming for Uruguay throughout the tournament. Nobody knew they could make it to the semi finals.
So in the fianl I supported Espana. Vamo arriba Espana.

2014 seems spo far away but I hope we get there because thsi time we actually have to qualify....

Pascual, any news on that Distributor in SA? I asked at my LHS nd they do not know of anyone but I can get RCGF in 15cc and 20cc
