I have the same prop and exhaust in an Aeroworks Extra 260. I get 8,300 RPM. It is still trying to finish it's first gallon of fuel. I will switch to a better oil with the next gallon

The DL 20 will fly your rascal well. Most fly a 15X8 on their 120 glows and the DL20 will turn the 16X8 and this larger prop will give you more tork and would be a good fit.

I need to chose between a DLE20 and DLE30 for a 73" w/s CAP 231ex - SIG RC77.
The guy I got it from was using a OS160.
I am tempted to put on a DLE20 that I have unless you guys absolutely shoot it down..

Sandyjain - Definitely a DLE 30 on your 73" Cap. I have the 30 on my 73" CG Sukhoi and it's a perfect match.

Seeing that the summer flying season is about over, and winter is soon upon us (dont shoot the messanger). I was wondering what is needed to make the DLE-20 winter flyable?. It can get kinda chilly up here in the Toronto area, but on nice days -9 Degs are tolerable. Would minor jetting be all that is needed?

We fly all Winter and in addition to tweaking the carb a little, it sometimes runs too cool. Last year, I just put a sock on the cylinder and it ran great. I have the yellow Ultra Stick with a DLE-20 in this pic.

I still haven't figured out which engine I'm putting in the Rascal 110. I know the DLE 20 will fly it but that's the lowest of the low end. I also like my 4 strokes and am probably leaning towards the Saito 150 at this time.

I am not into "slimers" so I am the wrong guy to ask. It was adequate in the Rascal with floats, but did not blow me away. Let me put it this way, I have a Ultra Stick 120 Lite with a DLE-30 and it is close to the Rascal in size, but way, way more performance.

The only way I'm fly'n when it's "minus" anything is with plenty of anti-freeze in my system.

And since I don't indulge anymore, I'll just stay where it's warm in the winter.

I did read on here somewhere that guys were wrapping the cylinders with empty aluminum cans. I would guess they were beer cans.[X(]

If aSaito 1.50 is the same power as a DLE-20 then it will fly a Great Planes Ultimate Biplane 1.60 Scale Airplane I seen one with a Saito 1.50 it was awesome and a lot faster than you would think and lite. The airplane at 12lb. andIhave a Saito 1.50 it has 15lb. of thrust so by that it would hover.

Slats I just completed the MXS-R with a DLE20. Will fly on Sunday. Did you get one ?

both swing 16" through 18" props.
DLE20 likes the 17x6 best
SAito 150 needs 30% nitro to swing the 18x6 over 8000rpm.

Total mass is similar too. the DLEis cheaper to run.

Never ever compare H.P. ratings. Those are stated by Mfg's simply as a marketing ploy to generate sales.

Actually it's the Vess 17 x 6 (Sport) prop with the Xoar 17 x 6 coming in a close second,
as noted by many of us in this and other threads on the DLE20.

{JXF is the parent propeller company that manufactures JXF, Xoar, PAU, NX, Vess, and several others. The JXF props are the same shape and airfoil design as the Xoar line of props.

The JXF name has been replaced by Xoar International. }

Overall, no....engines only, yes.

The DLE20 only needs around abouts a 10 oz fuel tank, whereas the Saito 1.50 might be closer to 16-20 oz in order to run the same amount of time.
So you failed to figure that weight difference in. The smaller tank for the DLE20 clearly gives it the upper hand regarding weight savings.

The DLE20cc is equal to a 1.20 glow, albeit one on steroids!
I'd class it between a 1.20 & a 1.50, but NOT quite up there.
That's assuming their both tuned correctly.

Compare the DLE20cc to a worn out Saito 1.50 and you'd be correct.

Ok, as promised here are pictures of the DLE installation in the Top Flite P-40. Spinner is not correct for this airplane. One is on order and has been for three weeks. As stated earlier, couldn't get engine to turn up. When I got home, I checked timing. It was right on at 28 degree before TDC. Ran it some more on the ground. Doing a little better 6,900 rpm, but still way down. It acted like an engine that is over proped. On a wild hair, I installed the Master Airscrew 16-8 off the Hellcat. 8,200 rpm and much better thrust. ***? I checked. Both props are 16-8 Master Airscrew three blades. But old one has 4020T in the blade and new one, 4021T. Upon very close examination, it appears the new prop has more pitch out near the tips than the old one. So I need to find another old model 4020T. I don't want to go shorter because the longer blades look more scale.

3rd photo, showing the throttle linkage at the carb; remove that nut, put a small flat washer on, re-install the nut.
Now, should the nylon arm ever work it's way off the ball, the flat washer will keep it from doing so!

thanks for the pics it looks like the DLE fits nicely inside the cowling of the P-40. so it looks like this will be my next project.

Don't know if this has been covered but the manual recommends that you use a vibration damping mount like the Dubro mount listed in the back of the manual. I also read in RC Universe that vibration mounts were not only not recommended but would do damage. This is my first gasser and I want to do the right thing. I always thought that a vibration mount was a good thing...............opinions?????
