Clay,
There's been several such photos posted in the past serveral pages.
One thing that might help ya; up at the top of each page is a link called [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/gallery_thread.asp?threadID=9863953]Gallery[/link]
Click on that, give it some time to load, then scan the photos till some catches your eye.
Highlight any photo, and then it'll show the message it links to, at the bottom/left of the page.

P40K5,
I tried that type of mount but found that the backplate of the engine was in a direct line of the arms for the choke and throttle. Have you found a way around that issue?

dosn't effect the integrity at all.

Correction: I meant to say the ''backplate of the mount.''
Correction: I meant to say the ''backplate of the mount.''
Wasn't that was answered back when you'd asked first time, and someone
even posted photos of how they modified it to work?

Jody,
I just checked my rcexl on failsafe. It does work. I have an Assan Rx with a module on the Futaba 9C. Here the state of the joysticks and switches at the time of Tx switch on is the failsafe position. I kept the ignition off during Tx switch on. So now when I switch off the Tx to simulate failsafe - the ignition switches off.
However I have the ignition and rcexl kill on a separate batt. - but that should not matter think.
Regards

Cool!
Does "F/S" even show up in your 9C with those modules?

Two quick observations:
Clay,
Mount the tank at the c/g. That will make it easier to route your control rods to the engine. It has a pump.

Heck, then I've got to study up on all this IBE stuff!
Thanks,

In Assan module and Rx, unlike futaba native 2.4, all channels have failsafe mode.

For Super 9C, 9C, and back, your statement is true.
For Futaba 10CAP, those DO have F/S in 2.4 gHz modules, probably
all their higher end radios should.

What a great tip! Didn't know it and will give a try. In the meantime I still hope others will show some closeups of how they did it. Just like the bellcrank for the choke I bet some resourceful people have already beat the pants off this issue.

More photos of flyers choke & throttle linkage setups.
More 3-bladed prop rpm + thrust numbers.

There's also a huge difference between different make props with the same pitch/diameter. I personally am not a fan of MA props. I just tried it since the prototype I'm flying (Hawk P-6E ARF) used a three blade prop.
The next prop I'll try is a Xoar 17/6. I've had good thrust experience with them in higher power electric applications (thrust delivered per watt) where I can actually measure power in and thrust out. Vess also comes in at the top.
Just for grins, my power experience in full scale road race cars is: Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.......guess that I'll have to take some data on props.
Y'all have fun,

BTW: The DLE20 flies the Hawk in a very realistic manner.

Rich,
Agreed on the MA.
You'll find the Zoar & Vess very close to each other!
I used to race 1/4 mile, and I'd alter your saying to;
HP is for bragging, torque is for winning AND bragging!

weight trumps everything. my 200hp/170ft-lbs 450lb Suzuki GSX-R will rape my 585hp/600ft-lbs 4000lb 1971 Roadrunner.
anyways, what the reason for the hate-on for MAS props?

props don't make power
they just apply it
HP is simply torque ( which is directly measurable) in an equasion of torque and time
the BEST powerplant will continue to apply the most torque at the highest airspeed . The BEST prop will provide the most performance for a given circumstance(s)
change speed/weight/acceleration needed or all three and the "best prop" will change

It's not hate, just data.
I ran a lot of props through an electric dyno. My figure of merit was thrust per watt at specific rpm values. While done primarily to design an electric SPA pattern plane, it gave insight into propeller airfoil and area radial distribution effects on performance.
I found that Xoar and Vess performed best. Interestingly, they were also the quietest.
The best for electric use ONLY were the APC electric series. This was primarily due to the very thin cross sections allowed by the smooth angular torque variations compared to internal combustion systems.

Exactly. HP is simply torques times rpm and a constant. Match the rpm to your airplane and have a ball.
Also, everyone keep in mind that static thrust is just that, static. Unless you can fly at zero airspeed, be careful. I'm using the data recording capability of the Castle ICE ESC to get flight data and so far it's been interesting.

G`Day
Here are a couple of photos of my Choke and Throttle setup, used carbon fibre throttle linkage, connection linkage was epoxied to fibre rod, home made throttle arm (works a treat).
Choke arm also carbon fibre extending through to outside of cowl (push and pull). Also a few pics of my cockpit and pilot.

dutchy50,
You'll need to wait on uploading photos for awhile longer.
RCU shifted over to new servers, and haven't yet worked out all the bug.

Just got done pluging the old holes and test fitting it to the hell cat. Set the fire wall to prop flange washer at 5 9/16" just what the manual called for. Choke open has 1/8" space between the fire wall and cowl bolted right back in the same place. still have to finsh install but looks good so far. Thats a 14 X 8 prop on there the 16 X 8 will be here tomorrow.
