My first impressions are NOT good. I have a ZDZ 40BS and can't get parts from TBM because it's an old engine. The parts that are available are EXPENSIVE!!! I wish DLE would come out with a 40 size engine.

They're great engines; light, powerful and very throttle responsive with the rotary valve intake system.

Downside is that they can overheat if you run 'em too long on the ground at high power settings, or tightly cowled without sufficient attention paid to air flow and/or baffling and they have something of a reputation for being difficult to start which isn't an issue once you know how...

I would NOT use TBM for parts or anything else, use the new Canadian distributor. AMR I think but don't have a link handy you'll have to nose around for the Internet address.

They are NOT priced in the DLE or other Chinese engines range, expect to pay about what you would for DA or 3W.

I heard good things about the ZDZ40F3A 5 or 6 years ago so I bought one. RC Showcase had these at what seemed at the time to be a reasonable price, around 475. Ouch!!

Mine, simply put, is anemic compared to other 30-40cc powerplants. But is very easy to hand start. Would like to sell it but I don't think anybody would be interested

I dont own one but a flying buddy uses them. He is pretty competent with engines using DA, Zenoah, ZDZ, and DLE (that I know of). But I'm not too impressed with what I've seen on his ZDZ's. They seem to take a lot of work. I havent seen him use them that much lately. His are in the 85cc to over 200cc range. Yet he still praises them so there must be something to them.
