A friend is looking to buy a combo with this engine, but I'm not familiar with it. Anyone know anything about them?

I understand there is a new, lighter weight, more powerful version of this engine on the market but I have no idea who still handles them in the USA these days. Maybe someone can shed some light on this. I would consider buying another one if there was distributor / warranty support.

I have been flying my Katana for two seasons now and enjoy the easy start power of the TMM 53engine. Only problem I ve had is the threads in the prop hub seem to strip easily. I don't believe I am too heavy handed but I have lost two hubs.

RE: Anyone familiar with the TMM 53cc gasser?
All,
Believe it or not I bought TOM engine he tested for Wildhare, installed it in a composite 50cc extra 330L flew the snot out of it and sold the plane and motor. The motor I got from Wildhare when compared to a brand new TMM motor, looks the same but they dont even come close when running. My/Tom old motor was a hoss and the new motors Wildhare got didnt have any compression. Wildhare about that time also picked up the new TMM 106 twin that failed to live up to the hype and TMM would not admit the motors were lacking in power and performance. Therefore WildHare never brought over a production run. TMM turned out to be a disappointment only in the regards that the company would not or could not accept contructive feed back about their motors. So sad to say they (TMM) wont budge and continue to say they have a fine product and WH will not order anymore TMM motors till they atleast change the cylinders and get the same compression they had before. Hopefully TMM will pull their head out and get the message.
