Tank Position???
I am mounting a DA 85 in a warbird ( Robart P-47 ) and for various reasons I cannot mount the fuel tank at the same height as the carby as I normally would.
I know the DA has a pump & regulator built into the carb so it should cope OK but my question is should I mount the tank higher or lower than the carb.
If I mount the tank above the carby ( bottom of tank about 1/2" above the carb ) will I have flooding issues?
If I mount the tank below the carby ( top of the tank about 1/2" below the carb ) will I have issues drawing fuel up to the carby?
Which will be better?
Thanks in advance..........
Mick

RE: Tank Position???
Hi Mick,
You can mount your tank a fair way away from the carby. A foot or two is not a problem.
Personally, I woudl keep the tank in the lower position rather than the higher to avoid any flooding issues.
The carb is not going to flood though because of the way it's constructed
By the way, that Robart P47 is an awesome plane !!!

Keep the tank as close to the CG of the aircraft as possible

But any carb on a gas engines that is working right will draw fuel three feet straight up.
