RE: PTE 50 I GAS ENGINE
Be the first! Buy one and run the daylight out of it for 100 hours and tell us all how it worked out. Better yet, get the manufacturer to provide you one for that testing on their dime.

RE: PTE 50 I GAS ENGINE
This engine is a marriage of the old style DL 50cc top end, and reed assembly with a CRRC GP50R crankcase. Both of them use the same older version DL50 crankshaft, the crankshaft mains are NSK but nobody knows what is on the rod. It is a decent running engine, not as powerful as a DLE but it's also less $.
Both prototypes I received (the first one was a year ago) had problems ranging from loose parts inside the engine, to the piston hitting the crush ring, to peeling chrome in the cylinder. If they've worked out these problems it could be a acceptable engine choice for a toy airplane, state of the art, not even close, original design, lol. It has a nice looking prop hub and an iridium spark plug though. |

RE: PTE 50 I GAS ENGINE
Jody, I took a chance and bought one....I went over it completely and the prop-hub nut was hand-tight with no thread-lock at all! Got about 3 gallons thru it, starts and runs good, I get abort 7000 rpm from a Vess 23-A, average for a 50cc. If you can get me some info on the manufacture, so I can get spare parts if needed, that would be great as my "Dealer" is kinda a "fly-by-night" kinda guy! I should have known better based on his R/C Universe log-on name! I will tell you who he is in a P.M. as this is no place to complain about individuals!

RE: PTE 50 I GAS ENGINE
I have 2 PTE36 engines. I am flying one in A ESM Val, for about a year now, The other is in A GP Edge 540. Both have been flawless. I have also A Zenoah G38, and I believe the power of the PTE far exceeds that of the G38. Very lightweight and turns a much bigger prop. I will not hesitate to buy the 55 for my next project. JMPUPS

RE: PTE 50 I GAS ENGINE
I have 2 of the PTE36R engines. Both seem to run great. Had one for A year the other 6 months. Both easy starting and smooth running. I hope it continues. I was surprised to see your inquire about A PTE50I, I am not aware of them making any other engine than the 36cc. I am building A Top Flite Giant P51, and if they plan to make this engine in A rear carb and exhaust version I would wait for it. jmpups

RE: PTE 50 I GAS ENGINE
I too have two PTE36 Engines.
My first had a Reed Valve Chip due to casting flash causing a Flame out. Got a revised Reed Block for it. Before I fixed it I bought a used one that had been updated. Have flown it 12 Flights or so and it runs great. Very powerful engine. I'm happy so far. |
RE: PTE 50 I GAS ENGINE
