Zenoah G45 Electronic Ignition Conversion
Has anyone been through this? I was given a G45 that has not been run in about five years, It needed an ignition coil so I figured since it wasgiven to me and a new ignition module was almost the cost of the conversion kit,I would do an ignition conversion. I bought the RCXel unit from agaperacing. It looks straight forward, but some times you never know. I'm thinking of leaving the spring start on initially until I get this thing running correctly on a test stand.

I have used the RCXEl conversion kits. It is as easy as it looks and it shouldn't take you more that 30 minutes to convert the 45 over. You need a gear puller to get the flywheel off.
You won't need the spring anymore, the E.I. will make it obsolete. |

I used this method to get the flywheel off since I didn't have a flywheel puller. Got this off the C&H website.
To remove the flywheel, take off the nut, reinstall the hub snuggly, then screw in the long propeller bolt until the flywheel pops off. Save the hub and attaching parts. |

Thanks! Kit is installed. Will be running it on the test stand this weekend.

Hello Tx_RcFlyer - I know it has been awhile since this post but I was curious as to your results? I am in a similar situation right now. I just came accross an old G45 that is somewhat stubborn to start but runs well whenit does. Did you notice any performance/power gains? What kind of weight reduction did you get? Any other things to consider? |

RE: Zenoah G45 Electronic Ignition Conversion
There will be little extra power
Little weight loss because of the weight of the batteries But the engine will be easier to start. |

ok - got it. Thanks!

Exactly as W8ye said. But I tell you, with that spring start and electronic ignition, that's the cats meow when it comes to starting an engine. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ades_smile.gif I have a G-62 andI just did the same conversion on it. Still need to put it on the engine stand and run it,but I don't expect any problems based onmy experience with the G-45
