Anyone know who makes this old tachometer?

My father-in-law picked this up with a bunch of old RC stuff at a garage sale. Runs off a 9v battery and works awesome. Anyone know who made these?

Thanks!

Hey, thank you!

I love this thing, it has become my most prized RC item!

On a side note, in the same box was a complete World Engines Digital Blue Max Mark II radio system and a bunch of control line equipment, props and some building odds and ends. My father-in-law paid $10 for everything, including the tool box everything came in. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/thumbup.gif

The Thumbtach was very popular back in the late 60s, on through the 70s, maybe into the 80s. Electronic tachs were not that common back then as the very common Japanese and Chinese tachs had not hit our shores yet.

I built one of these Heathkit tachs in 1970 while I was on a USAF TDY to Keflavik, Iceland. Had 45 days to work on it. Took two. Worked great. Calibrated it by setting it to 3600rpm while aiming at a fluorescent lamp
