DLE 55 RA

Hi to all
i got today thiswork of art this is somthing worthy to put hands on asap.
i wanted to share with you this moment and also ask a question.
i paid attention that the engine comes with a new ignition set to work at 4.8-8v
is it meaning that any battery from this range can work? it sound unbelievable ?
if yes what will be the safe range to work with? li-po7.4 or life 6.6 battery?
for the last three years i use powerbox regulator switch that cost $60 on each plane i had, are this days are over?
thank you for your kind answer

Yak,

Yes, you do not need a regulator, however your ignition will last longer if you are 4.8-6 volts. The closer 4.8 the better.

Anything in that range will work fine.

Newer ignitions are built to deal with the higher voltage without damage but they don't need it to run well.

A123 will do the job. I prefer to remove the potential failure point of a regulator if one isn't needed.

One 2s 2300mah a123 pack is enough to fly a 50cc model 4 or five times, and can be charged at the field very quickly. I use the hobbyking A123 cells and make my own packs with the amount of leads and balance wire that I require, they seem to be genuine cells and perform well. Hobbyking also sells a genuine a123 2s ready built pack, this is the only other life battery I personallywould buy from hobbyking for a large model. I also build my own 1100mah a123 packs from hobbyking cells for my 90 size and smaller nitro models.

Not tried the lipo shaped retangular lifes that are on ebay and available at hobbyking, I know they are not real a123 and have read of a fair few failures. I suspect they do the job but are not as resistant to abuse as the real cells. I imagine there is alot of guys out there using the fake? packs who swear by them that will disagree with me, thats fine, it would be good to get some info on the non genuine cells performance/reliability, im happy to be proven wrong.

If the ignition accepts a 2 cell Lipo then just use that. They're much easier to get hold of and cheaper.<div>
