I'm replacing glow with gas. Need some advice.
 
I have been swapping out most of my glow engines for gassers lately. I recently acquired (another) DLE20 and a Saito FG20. I plan to replace an OS 120 surpass with the DLE(on a GP P6e hawk), and replace a Saito FA-100GK, with the Saito FG20(on a GP Waco). Am I trading close to equal, powerwise?

Yes, I think it's close, maybe a little more power now.

ScottM, I replaced an OS 120 FS with a DLE 20. The OS turned the 15-8 three blade Graupner prop at 8,200 rpm. The DLE 20 turns the same prop 8,600 rpm. The DLE also seems to have more torque. There was a total weight increase of about 5 oz. I could probably lower the weight by going to one li-po and regulator instead of two Nimha batteries.

Small change of plans... the FG20 won't (easily) work on the waco. No matter how I try, it is just too long for the cowl to go on correctly.Soo....I put the DLE in place of the Saito 100 on the Waco, and the FG20 will replace the OS 120 surpass on the P6e Hawk. I know the DLE is a big jump in power from the FA-100, but I still think the FG20 will fly the Hawk ok.

Only use screw on cap tanks. Stay away from stopper tanks!

Well have you flown the gp waco with the dle20 yet? I would really like to know how it flies with that engine. I have a RCGF 20 needing a new home and was wondering if it had enough power for the gp waco.

Not yet. The weather has not been cooperating much. I hope to maiden it this weekend.
