1.20 glow versus 30cc gas
The large GP Escapade calls for a 30cc gas engine. Would an OS 120 AX glow engine give more than minimal power for this plane?

While I'm sure the 120 would fly the airplane I believe you'd be disappointed in the performance even if just minimal performance is expected. You might also have balance problems with the smaller engine and the necessary dead weight you might have to add would further take away performance.
A good 120 usually turns about a 16 inch prop where a good 30 sized gasser seems most happy in the 19 inch range. The thrust difference between these diameters is considerable! Further you even get a bit of prop braking on downlines and landing approaches with the larger prop that you won't experience with the smaller diameter. I'd have to recommend the 30 gasser. |

Thanks for the input. I think you are probably right.

What everyone has said so far. If you had a 160TS or a 180FS those would work. I just installed a 30cc on this plane for a customer and another is going electric.....no maidens yet. It is engineered for a gasser . Nice looking plane but nothing spectacular.
