Electric prop on gas engines? is it safe? .
I am working in the .60 size gas and I picked up a new prop today. When I get home it says for electric use. I plan to use it on gas 60 size. Is it safe to mix them or use electric props on gas?. I am reffering to 12 inch props or larger. Your input would be appreciated...thanks.. Joe..

No, it's not safe!

I agree.
You can put a sport/glow/gas prop on an electric, but you can't put an electric prop on a gas or glow engine. If you look at the size of the prop hub, it's pretty easy to see the gas/flow prop is built MUCH heavier to take the extra stresses involved with that kind of power. |
That is an absolute no unless you want to hurt yourself or a bystander.

OK Guys, thank you very much. I will exchange the prop for gas engines today.

I just ordered some props from HK and one of them advertised as "electric or gas"....it will be interesting to see this one!

They have a series of "bone" colored APC copies I've found cheap and even more durable than the real thing, Been using them on my 3D practice electrics for a few years now. They will break, but you really have to be asking for it! My point is, if the prop series you're talking about is anywhere near as nice as these are, I'd love to try them if they're available in a size I can use. When you get a minute, would you post a link please?
Here's the link to one of the props in the series I'm talking about. I highly recommend them. https://hobbyking.com/en_us/apc-styl...___store=en_us |
Received the props from HK today...3 were "light wood" Type D; the other was a "cherry ". All look good....now to try them and see. That could be a while as last week I dumb thumbed a dead stick and totaled my 30cc Escapde and today had a radio failure and put my DLE 20 powered Cub into a plowed ( and moist) field from about 150' straight in. Buried up to the back of the carb! Oh well.....

Sorry to hear that Jerry. Maybe Santa is trying to tell you something regarding a new plane?

Yeah, that's it.....has nothing to do with my dumb thumbs :)
