zenoah g-62 w/electronic ignition
 
Moving-up to my first gas engine. What ideas/experiences/opinions will you share with me about purchasing a G-62 converted to an electronic ignition system.

Jake,
If you get one fully moded by Ralph at RCIGN ignitions it will be lighter and easy starting.

I agree with Dave. I am very happy with my G62 converted to electronic ignitinon by Ralph at RCIgnitions. It is about 1.5 lbs lighter than my other G62 with a spring starter. It starts very easy, has lower vibration levels at idle and runs great.

Yep,, Give Ralph a call @ http://rcignitions.com/ For about $150 dollars more you will have a better starting and lighter engine.

You could also do it yourself with a kit from Roy Sholl at http://cncengines.com
It replaces the stock heavy rotor with a lighter one.Has mounting bracket for hal switch and S&S 9600 elontronic ignition with built in advance.He also makes his own plug cap (cnc)aluminum.

TIGITRIGHT-- Ralph doesn't charge much more than that DIY kit and he removes more weight to boot.

Ralph uses the origenal zenoah rotor.How do you figure thats lighter than a drilled out billet rotor that Roy makes.Also,Does Ralph include the origenal Zenoah coil (the heavy one)?Roys entire unit weighs 4 oz.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Noway dude.:eek:

On mine the rotor is turned down with no magnets and the rear portion of the crank is removed. He also uses a billet aluminum hub that is fluted if you prefer. He does use the coil, but his ignition looks to be less than 1 oz. My G62 converted it 4lbs4oz. (with ignition,plug,prop washer,cup mount, no muffler) He has a light version which is less than 4lbs.

How much does Roy's conversion weigh? and what does it cost?
I am about to run mine and will tach it with my new TNC
