Default Dummy is showing!

Have looked over AMA Sanction Application, looked over AMA Pylon Rules and Proposals. Looking Over has resulted in Over-Looked! [sm=confused.gif]

What and where is Pylon Class 426 rules?

Thanks!

426, is 428 rules with a couple changes.

Motor is Sport Jett .40 (approx $250)

Course moved to short (475 foot from 608).

Otherwise, the same.

Thank you very much. Is this proposed for future AMA Rules? Or is it like Club .40, just something for local events, etc.?

The proposed rule was to replace 428 with the Sport Jett motor, illegalizing the Nelson and Jett Long stroke motors.

After the initial vote, there was a cross proposal that wanted to keep 428 in tact for at least the short term, and start 426 for the Sport Jett without killing off the areas that wanted to continue with the 428 rules.

So, we are basically in transition, where the majority of the Country will be going to 426 in 2011, but some areas want to continue to run 428.

The 2011 Nats has both events scheduled as well as 422 Q40. As 428 Nelson LS motors wear out, the event will die, and 426 will take over as the premier Quickie event.

Or maybe we will join the rest of the world and switch to FAI F3R.

The FAI rules quantify a 424 level event with the addition of a spinner.

nope read it again. It's 428 with slight differences pure and simple. It is the event that the country s flying the current Euro cup series are flying.

Denis

Copied from application:

F3R is based on the AMA 428 class (Q500), which is a popular class and flown in many countries all over the
world at national contests and in Europe as a Europe cup competition.
Some countries used the AMA 428 rule with some differences. The technical specification of the model is
almost identical in all countries. Power plant and other boundary conditions, as well as the safety approach of
the F3D class are consolidated in this proposal.

I think this would be another race-the-clock type FAI event instead of a head-to-head American style race, right? I like racing wing tip to wing tip personally, racing the clock seems like practicing for a race to me. I hope we don't go to FAI at all.

That's a target speed for 10 times around the course based on time to complete the course. If you do a 1 minute 10 second (70 seconds) on the 2.5 mile course your average speed for the course is 128mph. To do this your plane will have to be doing an average speed of about 160 mph if you are flying tight. I made the same mistake you did reading the application when I comment on a German racing forum.

You can still race head to head and award trophies based on points and/or based on total time. The FAI will only recognize the time but so what unless you go to Europe to race.

It is meaningless now, the voting process is complete and tallied. I dont' remember anyone suggesting this when we were in the early stages of the cycle.

We have made our votes based on the proposed changes submitted (anyone can submit a change).

For the next two years we have what we passed and we can start over for 2013.

It is commonly said "As 428 Nelson LS motors wear out, the event will die"
Does someone one have apriori knowledge that Dub Jett intends to quit making the Jett Q500 motor???? They seem to be readily available and the current ones seem to be able to run with the Nelson LS

That is true with 422 Jett LS motors, but the Q500 was not quite there. Dub will say this himself.
