Old Julain Air Race!!! New website
We have a new website that has gone live today. We are very excited about it and hope it will be beneficial in communicating with the RC racing community. The dates for our 2011 events can be found here as well as other info about our flying field.
We just put it up this afternoon, if anyone has any problems loading or suggestions to improve our site please email me at [email protected]. There are some pictures of our past events you can check out. It is a work in progress and
we have a few more additions coming for the future, like pre-registration. The old website www.oldjulianairport.com is in the process of being turned off, for all info about our races please refer to the new website, www.oldjulianairport.org
.

Yep an Excellent place to fly and race. Mike has put in many hours on grading and laying out the course. Along with Jim Katz they set the pole sleeves in the ground for the long course and short . The course can also be reversed or changes fairly quickly. Jim Katz handled the design and construction of the light system and timing clock. John Gibson did the lap counting rig. A beautiful course and most likely the only AMA legal 3 pole race course in NC. Here are some pictures of various races.

RE: Old Julain Air Race!!! New website
In regards to the history involved in naming the Old Julian Airport.: A bunch of us guys were standing around one day and were trying to decide
what to call the place . One of the men had noticed that that the road just before you get to the field is named Julian Airport road.
Julian Airport, according to the people I have asked, was closed in the late 1940 to earlie 1950's.Due to our field being
so close to Julian Airport road and , best I can tell, within 1 mile of thewhere Julian Airport was, we decided to call
our field Old Julian Airport. At this time Icannot find anyone that knows exactly where the original Julian Airport runwaywas located.
