Default Kangke F3-d 30 ARF Engine Choice

Hi Guys,
Several people suggested i also put this post here. I found a brand new Kangke F3-d 30 ARF listed for auction and I am going to try for it. I have one with an Jett BSE 30 and the plane is getting tired. I wish they never stopped making that plane, it was a ball to fly. My question is if I get it, what engine should I go for. Here is what I have to choose I have in the shop

Super Tigre X-40 Fire R/C
OS 46 VF
Nelson SS qm-40 with airvalve
Jett SS qm-40 with airvalve

Also anything I might need to do to the plane. I would like to get in the 160+ range. The one I have with the Jett BSE 30 goes in the 130 mph range

Thanks and Happy Holidays
Ed

Either the Jett or Nelson...what are you thinking!

I have a modded TT.40 in mine and have been clocked at 157.

There is one in the marketplace.

Ed, I also left the landing gear off of mine, it was pretty fragile. Right now it needs a redo on the firewall. I would recomend a little extra strengthing in that area.

Hi Vicman,
I would love to get in the 175 range. I have a brand new proud bird 2 with a Nelson SS but the fastest I have ever gone was a Vortex with a Nelson. Figure I could use this to get used to the speed. Do you think it will hold up? I found one guy online with a Sport Jett 50 in his but he only flew it twice. He said it scared the crap out of him.

You saw about 130-150 with the Vortex didn't you?

The Proud Bird is the ticket! That will get you up in the 190+ range.
You can go to the speed rally link and get an idea of what you are looking at.

If you look at the photos in the club website you can see mine on launch in pic 53.

The vortex / Nelson should have been 150-160 mph +

LOL, Dave, you are right. I was thinking of the Vortex delta ARF. If he has a Vortex Quickie he would be honkin pretty good already.

Hi Dave,
Yes the Vortex was just around 150 give or take. I have been told the Proud Bird with the Long Stroke will be in the low 180's give or take range. I made a mistake , I originally posted it was a SS Nelson, but it is one that was converted to an LS by Henry Nelson in 2010.
Does anyone know if I have to do any mods to the plane? Thanks for the offers on the built ones, I want to start with a clean slate. Figure I will go with JR 3121 servos like I will use in the Proud Bird.

And to the two funny guys that said I should put the CMB .65 speed engine the front that the guy is also sellingI don't think so. Insanity can only go so far[8D]

So as it stands right now I am going with a new 2006 AAC Nelson 422 SS on a 7.4 x 8.0 APC, and JR 3121 servos. Any idea what this plane will do speed wise. Is there any chance it can get to the speed I want?

Happy Holidays
Ed

I added a 1" strip of glass tape along the fuselage seam (as far back as I could go with a epoxy brush jammed on a long dowel). The fuse is poly resin, not epoxy. I have had two with Nelson SS Q500 motors on them. I also glassed in a better plywood landing gear plate and used a Great Planes aluminum L-1 gear.

Hi Ed,
Good luck, have fun with it. I had a Nelson in mine and it was a ball. I had a Nelson SS Q-500 . I had 30 flight s on it before I lost the elevator servo.
