Default Racing Sticker, Application and Removal

Hi all,
Some of us have been doing this for a couple of years now and it has to do with the application and removal of the racing stickers we use. If you apply some wax to your wing befor you apply the sticker it will stick on very well and be very easy to remove when the race is over. I use McGuires wax and I think any wax that will hase will work the same. Just apply to the surface and let it dry to a hase, apply the sticker without buffing and I garrantee it will come right off. No need for Brake clean, Lighter fluid or heat gun. This works on Film covering Painted surfaces and Vinyl deco as well. Try this next time and you will no longer cuss the dread sticker removal.

they get really bad when you don't wax and don't take it off for over a year

I like the race glaze, easy to apply and remove...

Good enough for the WC, good enough for me.

yea baby! a little Race Glaze here and there is always good..

I second what both these AMA National Champions just said.. wax that wing BEFORE you apply your lane sticker, even if you have a monocote wing...wax it, then put your sticker on.. It will come off so much easier.

and on race day if it's a little damp out it will also come off easy in flight.

Never had that happen. Try a little wax on top of the sticker. Seems to help with some amount of moisture.

I have had it happen a couple of times even here in California but I never tried waxing the sticker. I'll do that at the next damp race.

Dennis,

Use your 3M tape and tape down the corners with a 1/2" x 1/2" piece of tape.. And 3M tape the sticker seem on the bottom.. That will fix it from peeling off in flight. Never had one peel off, and I live in the swamp ...

Thanks Randy. I should have asked you Florida guys what you did a long time ago. I spent enough time in Jacksonville and Cecil to know what real humidity is.
