RE: Old Julian May 4 and 5 race
What a great race Jim and Mike put on. OJA is how a race should be put on and run. All of the helper did an outstanding job. Equipment is great.
The weather was colder than normal for May. High winds. High humidity and very cool temps. I stayed cold Saturday, so Sunday I kept my pajamas on under my jeans. Worked just like long johns.
A lot of people got zeros from no starts. I lucked out and my engine started each time. Seemed like a higher than normal crash rate.
Bob Harris asked if anyone had any photos. If I did this right, the photo is of him holding what was left of his racer after he cut #2 pylon in half. He was mumbling something about his caller telling him to come in tighter.
We had some new faces and I think I made some new friends. Always good to see new people getting into racing.
Thanks to my AWSOME caller Bill Johanson. He always keeps me focused and settled down.
We race again in the fall. If you want to see how a race should be run, then come to the next one.

I cannot help but brag a little on my Buddy's. Of the 23 contestants in 422 4 flew Jett Motors that I can tell, and the rest flew the Nelson. The 2 fastest times were NOT NELSON'S! I'm just Sayin!!

In all seriousness, I saw a couple of posts about how another racer was hooked by the company he kept and the fun he had at this race. Mike is a wonderful host and the company he keeps is second to none, This, for me is the best part of the racing game. Winning is great but a weekend at the field with the quality of people this aspect of the hobby attracts is second to none. Keep Racing guys. This is not just a NC. thing it happens all over. Great job Mike and Co. You Guys rock.

First link is a few vids taken with my helmet cam at OJA. Second link is other race footage action. Enjoy !
The weather was cool but the warm hospitality made up for it. Sat evening brought an incredible meal at Mike's new place and a tour of the Nelson mfg. shop.
It was my first time at OJA and definately not my last (we had a blast) !! Thanks to all.

Tim. Your videos are Awesome ! As a new Pylon Racer. I'm taking to this Adiction quite nicely. It really makes it easy when you go to a Beautiful place like OJ in NC. And have the privilege to be around the great People that put on the event.
