Default GSW pylon racing

Starting in May (May 13th to be exact) Greater Southwest R/C Club will be hosting pylon races.
There are multiple classes and virtually any plane/ engine comb. will be allowed to fly.
We will be using our own custom rules to encourage beginners as well as seasoned pylon racers to compete and learn.
For the complete rules/ times/ days, e-mail me and I will send them out.
Hopefully there will be enough interest to make this a monthly event.

Default GSW pylon racing

The day is may 13th (with wind/rain day of May 18th)
Engine classes are:
Electrics through .09
.10 - .25
.26 - .40
.41 - .49
.50 and up
Engine classes may be modified before first race if needed and if all affected pilots agree.

The complete rules are fairly long to post here, but the basics are,
No engine mods of any sort,
Any engine/airframe comb. is allowed,
No Rossi, Jett or Nelson engine are allowed to point (but can fly). 500 ft course, 2 pylon layout
Any prop
any muffler
max nitro % is 20% for engines over .10 and 35% for engines under .10

If you would like complete rules feel free to contact me via e-mail.

I am hoping to set up a "round robin" style of meets similar to what the combat guys do.

I would love any feedback

Thanks
Craig

New engine class added:

We will be adding an "open" class where Jett, Nelson and the like will be permitted.
Also a correction on the date. The correct date is May 11th. Information can be found on the Club website at:

Default GSW pylon racing

Races were officially postponed until May 18th.

We are going to start a Predator racing league.
We will race on the first Sat of every month.
$10 entry fee that will go into a pot to be payed out at the end of the season.
Rules are simple:
Predator plane (can be converted from v-tail to regular tail), racing wheels are OK, NO other mods are allowed.
Any engine under .48, any muffler.
Any pilot can buy any other pilots engine (minus muffler, spinner and prop) for $125 cash on race day.
7 laps per race. 4 planes per heat. Reno start.
YS 20/20 fuel or less.
Scoring will be: 1pt for each complete lap; -1pt for each pylon cut; 5pt bonus for 1st place; 3 pt bonus for 2nd place; 1 pt bonus for 3rd place.

First race of the new league will be June 1st.
See ya there!!!

Default Racing League

I guess I should update our clubs race schedule for any interested parties:

On the first Sat of every month, Greater Southwest Aero Modelers is hosting 424 class pylon races.

Only 424 legal planes are allowed. Only APRA allowed engines will be allowed. Club will provide fuel, pilots will provide their own props (9X6 only). $100 claiming rule will apply.

We will be using a "reno" start due to grass runway. We will also use a 600ft 2 pylon format due to space constraints.

Email me with any questions

Default GSW pylon racing

Last year was pretty much a bust, but this year we are going to try again.
We will be using NMPRA district 8 rules for events 1, 2 and 3.
The only changes that will be made are:
1: we will be using a 2 pylon format because of space constraints and;
2: We will be using a "Reno start" because of our grass runway.

If you have any questions please check out the clubs website at: www.flygsw.org

Racing will begin on Saturday March 1st. Hope to see yall there
