Default 12Aug Denver Area Race Location has Moved!

The Aug. 12th Race scheduled for Boulder has been moved to Airpark. Evidently the Boulder Reservoir has seen cases of the West Nile and the Plague. What a bunch of wennies...

See you Saturday at Airpark.

Kurt

High Plains - will you be there?

My baloney has a first name...

Yes Kurt, I'm finishing up a Sky Raider and the Quickie is on charge. I'm going to test fly the Raider in a couple hours if all goes well. Just love that crappy metric hardware.

They fly like an ugly stik on Quaaludes, not fast, just mellow. There is some evidence that they are slightly faster when flown inverted through the turns.

We'll keep you in mind with some 12 oz. curls Gordo.

Well, we did the 12-oz. curls, but it had to be root beer. Regular beer would've interfered with the meds we all had to take after Bozarth missed the runway, dropped a wheel into a prairie dog hole and the little darlings came swarming out and infected us all with the plague. (I'll bet you thought "Black Death" was just something from Orbit R/C's 1972 product line.)

The Sky Raiders are a hoot; it's sort of like zeppelin racing. When the wind came up, they stopped in midair and we all ran out of fuel trying to claw our way to #1. So the finish was determined by the distance traveled before impact.

The fast Quickies (AMA 428) fared a little better, but wind was a problem there, too. Dible placed 2nd, thanks in large part to the style bonus we gave him for his deadstick touch-and-go followed by a slow half-snap to inverted and a soft 3-point touchdown. The 3 points, in this case, consisted of the needle valve and both tips of the V tail. I don't know who won; I was chased from the field by a swarm of West Nile mosquitoes and missed the award ceremony.

But seriously, there were no crashes, no life-threatening infections, and a good time was had by all.

Been there, done that. About 1/4 to 3/8" on the Thumper.
