Default Rossi q500 motor?

Hi i was wondering if anyone knows anything about these rossi q500 motors? they are cheaper than jetts and nelsons, are they as fast and as good as nelsons? there specs look good... i posted this here cause i dont know if this motor is q500 "legal" so i thought it might not be appreciated in the q500 forum.

Rossi was king before the Nelson came along. There fun, but time has moved on. Really likes to spin. Mufflers and carb parts fall off sometimes, a little heavy as compared to newer stuff.

There legal, because there .40 sized, but look out when those LS's come by. It not good to get vortexed

IF you keep your eyes open, there's always a nice deal on good used SS Q500 nelsons on ebay,,, something to get your feet wet with before you go spending the BIG Bucks for a new one.

yeah why is that? is that something to do with SS are no longer allowed for racing so no one wants them or something like that?

The SS (Short Stroke) Nelsons are very strong motors, but the newer LS (Long Stroke) are slightly faster. Many of the traveling racers have been selling them off to fund newer LS motors. At that level, you can't give away speed and make it up.

I just sold one last week that went for about $160 and was in very good shape.

The SS Nelsons would still eat the Rossi up and spit it out. You do have to be carefull buying the used ones, I've seen some on there that I wouldn't touch. With any high performance motor, they can be abused, so its helpful to know the source.

The SS motors are great bargins for anyone getting into 428 pylon. Especially since 3 out of 4 people are not competitive anyway. BTW, there was a month between the Rossi and Nelson where the then new Webra was the hot setup.
